Read somewhere it wasn't very good to exercise last thing at night- is this true and for what reasons? The way my work has gone it maybe the only time i have to get some exercise in and I'd be going to bed about an hour or so after my workout- anything wrong with that?

    Thanks

better to exercise than not too!

afaik the reson why its not recommended last hing is because it can interefere with your sleep patterns, you may find it very difficult to sleep as your body takes a while to wind down after a workout. That's why doing it early is great, it keeps your metabolism high for the day so you burn up more cals as the day goes on.

Also, if you're weight training, its a good idea to eat a meal within an hour or so of you training, so keep your body replenished with the nutrients needed to keep muscle repair going. But then, eating right before bed isn't v good as it can make your digestive system v sluggish.

First thing in the morning is good and bad also. You should not do any training till about 1 hour after you get up as your body needs time to adjust after lying down for 8 hours.

But morning training means you feel better and are more alert at work and have a better appitite throughout the day.

Well thats what i do anyhow.Used to do straight away till i read it was better to wait the hour and have breakfast first.

The earlier you exercise, the more effectively you'll burn fat. Training last thing at night isn't a good thing because you'll need to nourish your body after training and doing that right before bed time means you won't have as much time to burn off the calories. Also, you're more exhausted (after work, college, whatever) in the evenings/nights so you won't get as rigorous a workout.

Sorry to bring this up again but what about lets say 2-3 hours before going to bed?

Also should one eat before or after the gym (Mix of cardio and weights)

it's better than nothing and everything depends on ur goals
but, for example if its for buning fat, losing weight then morning excercise is best.

i tried it and it messed up my eating and sleep paterns, worse than they allready were. need to eat after excercise so it makes for an extra meal, too awake to sleep with the blood flowing etc.

early in the morning is best, burns fat very fast, and doesnt affect muscle if ur carefull and eat enough protein etc.

but if its general fitness ur after then u wanna be excercising with plenty of energy, ie after meal as opposed to first thing in morning when ur on empty.
