How much should I expect a phisio treatment to be and can anyone recomend one in south Dublin? I have a discomfort in my lower back.

i've heard loads of physios/ chiropractors/ sports massage therapists all say different things about the other, and generally its not good!

When i damaged my sacro-iliac in my back I saw a physio in college (only €13 a session, happy days) who was great for giving me excercises and stuff and gave me insoles for my feet (the cause of the problem) and then a sports masseuse helped to ease the pain on bad days.

A chiropractor who I spoke to at the same time said that when it comes to backs, they're the way to go. I dunno, never saw one, but the physio certainly helped me loads. Seometimes trainee physios need bodies to practice on so you could contact a college that teaches them like RCSI.

    Cheers.

Its a tightness when I move, or if I lift my legs. I think its from

    1) situps

    2) running

    3) Increased weight? (Ive put on over a stone from training)

    4) Not doing deadlifts/squats and strenthening my core.

Its not very sore or anything now just a bit uncomfertable and I think I should deal with it incase it ever gets any worse.

ooh, a weak core is guaranteed to give you problems. get the physio to show you some good strengthening excercises or do some pilates- rock solid core in no time :) and if you're doing lots of weights how come you aren't doing deadlifts or squats?? they're two of the best lifts going- compound full body workouts!!!

Mainly its because I was concentrating on developing others and didnt take heed of how important they were, but then recently when I started to do them and up weights I realised that my gym has no rack. Deadlifts fine but squats no. In fact I tweaked a shoulder muscle lifting a 35 kilo bar over my head after doing a set. Furthermore 35 kilos is the heaviest the gym has unless I go to the bench downstairs (of course I cant with no rack.) And I am doing my level best to stay away from smith machines.

Its all down to laziness on my part though, a bad workman allways blames his tools and all that..........
