Well, does ice cream give you the same protein as milk, or is there some major difference? Thanks.

    Sugar, flavourings and fat.

Pint of Ice Cream != Pint of Milk.

Not a bad junk food though. By that I mean you get good bang for your buck, calorie-wise!

no matter how hard i try, i will never, EVER be able to resist ice-cream (especially when the Centra 5 min down the road is selling pint tubs of B&J on special for €2.99... phish food... *drool*).

Mind you, two scoops of low-fat chocolate ice-cream (unislim does a passable version), one scoop chocolate whey protein, 3/4 cup skim milk, drizzle of flaxseed oil + a blender = one hell of a shake that's not altogether sinful on a cheat day :D

as seamus said, ice cream is loaded with sugar and made with full fat milk, so its high in fat. Are you saying you put ice cream in your shakes every day?? its maybe ok to do it once in a hwile, and with very low-fat or no fat ice cream like i said before (once again.. *drool*) but on a daily basis its a big no-no imho. The fat you're getting is bad fat (saturated) and if you're trying to bulk up or increase protein intake, there are much better ways of doing it- lean meats, pulses etc.

It also has cream added to it, which is the real killer.

not if you're trying to put on weight. milk is excellent for muscle growth
it all depends what you're trying to achieve

Milk was a major key in old time strongmen and physical cutlure development. Men with incredible physiqiues and min blowing strength drank gallons of milk! Also I believe the Great Arco's favourite food was ice cream! I have a video clip somewhere of him lifting a truck load of people and then walking over to a table with moutains of ice cream and shovelling it in.
