Why not just cut out fat totally?

    What would be the effect of completely cutting your fat out of your diet. I don't see why that approach doesn't make sense at least in the short term (before it slows your metabolism down). If you're looking to burn fat, what would be the effect of just sticking to protein and carbs?

    Well quite simply, your body needs fat. So you cant cut it out completely. Believe it or not there are good fats, olive oil is one. Read up some more about nutrition on the net.

    Aside from the given reason that it's necessary in the diet and for many bodily functions, I'll give you one that should be enough:

    Fat is needed for the production of testosterone. Without saturated fats in the diet, you can't pitch a tent!

    As mentioned by the other guys before, cutting out fat completely is a definite NO-NO, it is just to important for a lot of different functions of the body.

    There are basically three different types of fat 1. saturated fat, 2. mono-unsaturated fat and 3. poly-unsaturated fat. Most people eat to much of the saturated fats (solid fats mainly butter, cheese, the fat in meats …).
    Certain types of fat are actually needed for the fat metabolism, meaning eating unsaturated fat helps to use/metabolise fat.

    Reading up about is would be definitely a good idea.

    You're body loves its fat, and it'll do whatever it can to hold onto it. Cut out fat completely and you'll find it much harder to shift that flab.

    Aside from that, fat actually does a lot of very important jobs in the body. Despite the dirty word that media has turned "fat" into, we can't survive without it.
