    Only just saw this now..
    http://www.rte.ie/news/2005/0920/rta1.html
I know we hear so many reports of random and unprovoked attacks, and this just sums up the mentality of some of these people.
I wonder if this is being reported where the tourist is from.
What more a signal do we need to see some parts of society are in total turmoil?!

Scum, don't you just love 'em. We need out own Devils island for "people" like this. Somewhere very cold and windy off the west coast, methinks.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

    Drug addicts I wouldn't wager.

But then, it could be any of the 900,000 in rich old Ireland who are living on less than 200 a week.

Society in turmoil did someone say?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,145 ✭✭✭DonkeyStyle \o/

I'd put money on the thief being someone who's already been in prison and released on "good behavior"... it'd be so f*king typical.
Is there no injection they can give these scummers to make them grow a concience? ... aside from a lethal one.

    where'd ya get that figure?

200 quid a week or no. Scum are scum, regardless of socio economic background. Hell, most druggies wouldn't stoop that low. It wouldn't surprise me to find out it was someone who was on way more than 200 quid a week. Privation does not always a scumbag make.

A freind of mine once said that he would have absolutly no problem sitting on top of the GPO and picking off scumbags with a sniper rifle completly free of charge if the cop's would let me. I'll always remember the "free of charge" bit !!

Maybe an injection of cyanide into the thief's eye?

That really is the lowest of the low..how could someone do that and the two people just after being hit by a bus.ffs

But also take a look at Unicef report here

    http://www.unicef.org.nz/advocacy/publications/Report_Card_-_Poverty_1.pdf

16.8% of children in Ireland living below poverty line.

Poverty does not excuse scumbag behaviour of course but when I read "some parts of society in turmoil" I had to laugh. This whole f*cking country is a joke with figures like that.

    cheers.
I missed out on that. And perhaps that the problem - we see too much of the type of story I mentioned, and the root causes are flashed in our faces but we dont take note.
I stated that "parts of society are in turmoil" wrong and totally agree with you.

what scum. thats dublin for you. my cousin, 21 year old female was attacked in broad daylight on o connell street by 3 guys who mugged her. when she was lying on the ground after they ran off a girl came over to help her and, when she picked her up, she also slipped her hand into her pocket and nicked her mobile. the scum that patrol the streets really fu<kin' pi$$ me off. they get rarely get caught even though the majority are known to the cops. When they are caught they get suspended sentences or 2 or 3 months. Then its straight back out onto the street, for more of the same

Garbage tbh! Any major city around Europe I've been to is nowhere near as bad as Dublin. I've staggered around London at all hours of the night, treaded the vast city of Oslo, not to forget Benidorm and Alecante in Spain. Compared to just about everywhere else I've been, Dublin is the biggest kip I've ever set eyes on, it's a joke of a city.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

i think ireland is a lot more shocked by people doing bad onto others than a lot of places...we are still very old fashioned here when it comes to attitudes to alot of things...the scum is there in london its just not as suprising as it is in dublin...and i have wandered the treets of dublin many a night and have got **** all trouble tbh!!!

I've done the same in Dublin. In fact, the only time I remember being accosted in the street was in Galway. Go Figure.

I totally agree, I've never came across a city that is anyway as bad as Dublin, "any major city" my arse(no offence Giblet)

i think its because ireland as a whole is very small and gossipy...chances are if somehing happens in dublin for example i would know someone who knew someone who was elated to your man u was killed and therefore there is a bigger shock factor

To be honest, in any thread I've seen, you complain about everything. This could have happened anywhere. And that's just gross exaggeration, you don't have to go very far to find cities worse than Dublin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

its just documented more when its in dublin...it took kids video taping themselves beatin up old people to make the news in england!!!

No I complain about scum & ITT, that's it :D
Oh and I said "I've never came across" as I personally haven't been to a city that I would judge as worse than Dublin.

Gardaí are now seeking assistance in tracing the whereabouts of the handbag and holdall. It is believed they were taken from the scene in the immediate aftermath of the accident.

Who says they were stolen ....wouldn't be the first time the police fcuked up ...1 1/2 mill for mac what's his name ....no arrests no one charged ,I think more than skangers need to be picked off TBH

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,989 ✭✭✭✭Giblet

Well you do have a large population in a small area compared to the rest of Ireland.

And please, less of the whole "Skanger Culling" ideas. It's a bit repetitive at this stage.
