I was walking through town the other night, when I noticed in a shop window that there was a Santa and a Christmas tree propped up beside the Halloween tat.

I was depressed for the night afterwards...

Sky movies have been showing christmas movies since august... they showed scrooged not so long ago, an all time classic.

i remember one christmas i bought a hat which extended outwards at the top and had some mistletoe at the end.. wore it out one night, happy night that was...

Well it was after all Jesus's official b.day 4 days ago ... or did you all forget?

I imagine highlighting that fact is all Debenhams were trying to achieve with their seemingly cynical (but not however!) 'early' Xmas promotions.

    Happy B.day J-man!

    exactly.
We even cross out the name Christ and call it Xmas.

No more Christmas talk until December 1st, please. I'm already dreading the gaudy lights in Henry Street and the endless "crooning". Christmas songs pumped through speakers onto the streets all day with the only escape being crowded shops with louder "songs". I bet it wasn't like that in Bethlehem 2000 years ago.

Agreed! We're not even over Halloween yet, for God's sake.

I think the United Nations should stop worrying about North Korea and Iran's nuclear programmes for the time being and concentrate on the more important issues....... like bringing in a worldwide ban on any mention of Christmas or Christmas-related issues before December 1st each year! :D And should any country, company, media outlet, etc., break this ban that they be tried for crimes against humanity! ;):D

I'm lovin' the Christmas animosity on this thread. I fu<kin' hate it too. And any shop with Christmas stuff up should be boycotted, the money hungry ba$tards

the shop where I work put up one of those Santas last year. It was about 5 ft high and needless to say, the staff executed it

Ooooh, ooooh, pictures, pictures, we need pictures! Or, even better, if you happen to have one of those digital cameras that can also take videos, a short little video clip. I'd love to see a video of that fat ba$tard getting nuked!* :D

*Oh, if only it was for real. :( I'd gladly pay to see someone hijack a US Air Force B2 stealth bomber armed with a couple of thermonuclear bombs and see them take a trip over Lapland! :D Hey, a guy can dream, can't he? ;):D

    Christmas FTW.

Ah, my obligatory yearly mass trip, eating until I'm unable to leave my chair and then start sweating profusely, making myself ill gorging on chocolate bars in a bid to consume mine before anyone else in the house....

    I love Crimbo.

    omgwtdbbq!11!one , it's only bloody September.

There's an easy equation; the earlier Christmas decorations go up, the worse Christmas becomes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,738 ✭✭✭Naos

    Holy crap...

Went down to Tesco today and seen some Halloween masks, made a wee smirk thinking "Those crazy tesco heads, having this stuff out, its only September!"

...and then you bring Christmas into the equation.

Am I getting excited? I would like a Roses egg this time please Mr.Bunny.

families fighting, relatives getting drunk and making a holy show of themselves, stupid christmas hats you get in crackers not to mention the expectations. Christmas has to live up to its portrayal and for me these expectations rarely materialise. I hate it. I would love to hibernate through the month of December

^^^exactly. For me christmas means unbelievable queues and verbal abuse from customers. No wonder I hate Christmas when it turns people into psychotic monsters cos they cant get the playstation/random toy etc for their darling little Jack.
