  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,381 ✭✭✭snorlax

most people seem to have voted the week following fresher's week(10- 15th), what day is good, tuesday/ wednesday/ thursday/ friday? say around 5 or so in the buttery?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 30 howdareyou

I really think it should be "freshers' week".

I've voted for the following week as well, waaaay too much stuff on during fresher's week as well.

I'd plum for a Tuesday or a Thursday, there'll probably be some ents stuff in the Buttery on the Wednesday so it'll be manic then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,381 ✭✭✭snorlax

thursday would probably be better then tuesday as they'rll probably be a good crowd in the buttery

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,135 ✭✭✭✭John

defo try avoid putting it on the wednesday as the matter of

    <Oct 12, 2005: Rep of Ireland v Switzerland >

would mean the buttery + pav would be packed

the thursday seems to be a good idea though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,381 ✭✭✭snorlax

    ihatepunx = kev?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 602 ✭✭✭edibility

Why do people bother giving out to mods for anything? It's there job to be patronising!

But yeah, I'll be there, regardless of day, but after freshers week would probably be best, seeing as I'm a fresher and am meant to do things that week, apparently...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,381 ✭✭✭snorlax

probably be on the thursday/ the week after, maybe we could make a sign for the entrance to the buttery so all the freshers know where to go to find us?

    "Meet the Freshers"?!?!?

You totally STOLE our idea Trinity! Seb and his legions of UCD supporters will never forget this thievery...

I might turn up. Just to spite ya!

We'll sign you in to the bar if you have a flower in your hair, although, tbh, they're not too fussed on the student card thing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,381 ✭✭✭snorlax

you can go in through the canteen as it will be still open at 5, normally from around 8 onwards they start asking for id, and anyone who's underage get a lovely stripe on they're card.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 602 ✭✭✭edibility

Urgh. Is there any way to get around that stripe thing? I'm seventeen for another year like.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,381 ✭✭✭snorlax

you'll be fine there's ways around everything, just go early before the bouncers arrive (they're actually quite sound), or pretend your not in tcd and get someone else to sign in for you (then you won't get asked for id), or go in via the canteen if it's before 7/8 and the door's are still open.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,135 ✭✭✭✭John

Or just go to the Pav.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9 Diet_Coke

Myself Cuckoo and John will be wearing flowers. I'm hoping Agent smith and snorlax will do the same thing.

  • Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 21,504 Mod ✭✭✭✭Agent Smith

    i doubt that very much

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9 Diet_Coke

who's this diet_coke person? post in who's who.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

hehehe....meet the freshers - this just reminds me of that other nickname for freshers week...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,381 ✭✭✭snorlax

    he likes flowers, so ihatepunx?

Diet coke ther'e won't be any flowers round at this time of the year!

buttery would be better for seats, it's always a good atmosphere down there for the first few weeks in college before everyone starts going to the pav instead.
there's no way they'd check for id's that early anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

they check ID during freshers week a fair bit - not necessarily college id cus a lot of students dont have them by then, but id in general.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,381 ✭✭✭snorlax

you could possibly sneak in via the atrium. i wonder if they will be any wine receptions on in there that night?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,381 ✭✭✭snorlax

probably the thursday after freshers week (14th OCtober) in the buttery (probably). most people seem to be free that week.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 760 ✭✭✭ZWEI_VIER_ZWEI

    Friday
Oh, I thought it was the Thursday DURING Freshers' Week, not that it really matters, I am free on both dates.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,381 ✭✭✭snorlax

i probably should edit that poll because it's a bit confusing

  • Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 21,504 Mod ✭✭✭✭Agent Smith

how about having the beers ala the end of term trinity beers,

on the Grass outside the Pav, where there are no problums such as id's?
