Guys - the Linx 24 hour stuff is good.
Girls - I hear the Sure anti perspirants are the best, though I wouldn't personally know.

    for guys

Sure anti persprint - colbalt fragrance thats the best and smells nice as well

I do like the cobalt yeh. I found Lynx anti-persperant to be good though.

Although anti persps' give you cancer apparently because of how they block your pores over time it is very bad to use them often. So I stick with normal lynx and try to avoid anti persps'. I know it's extreme to think but why take the risk for a stupid spray when there are other sprays :)

I will never give up my ati persprint spray just thinking that i might smell of BO would be enough to kill me anyway !

mitchum is one of the better ones, and i tend to use either that, the navy blue sure, or sanex.

wouldn't touch linx tbh. when i was a lad (15 years ago now) linx had just come out, and every kid in school was spraying it everywhere, and i thought it was just manky. not sure about now, but back then it was just a deo, didn't even have any anti-persp effect, so you were just masking the sweaty smells.

i also tend to go for the roll on's as the sprays make me sneeze a lot and I always feel like I'm choking when i use them.

theres one called dryclor it 100% works.
you put it on at night and wash it off the next morning.
its takes a few days to start working.
after it starts working you only need to use it every 2-3 days.
    i think boots have it.

    Hi,

I've always found that when I used anti-perspirant, I sweated out of the places that weren't 'blocked'. For example, I'd spray under my arms and my back, and then when I start walking, I'd start sweating profusely out of my forhead, my forearms etc.. These days I just refuse to use it. I don't like the idea of blocking my pores. I can usually shower before the sweat goes stale and smelly so it's not a problem.

But to get back to your question, Adidas are supposed to be quite good, and I use the deoderant, and they've nice fragrances. Please don't use Lynx. That stuff is offensive to the nose. Terrible..

    Kev.

Mitchum do an unperfumed anti-perspirant stick, don't know about a spray. Works great, plus you can wear cologne/aftershave without conflicting smells.

i'd go for the Mitchum aswell

Mitchum is allegedly good, though I've never used it. Boots do a 48hr deo as well. But it's quite wet, you have to leave it dry before putting on t-shirts or you get those nasty white stains.

My doctor advised me to use Anhydrol Forte whch is one of those apply-the-night-before-yokes. (I walk in and out to work and just about every where else and was sick of having to change my top umpteen times a day). I questioned hi about possible risks and he said that he had yet to see a medical survey from a reputable source that conclusively proved that anit-perspirants give you cancer.

I've used it a couple of itmes, but I do find that while my arm pits won't sweat the backs of my knees will...and I some how doubt tope-to-toe application is a good idea.

I've heard about botoxing your arm pits to stop them sweating - any one know any thing about it ? I'd assume it's a bit like the super strong anti-p's in that although it stops your arm pits sweating, some where else will to start to sweat to compensate ?

That's a very dodgy idea now. Apparently its what all the film stars have before the Oscars but they end up sweating through the palms of their hands or in Renee Zellweger's case, her face.

There's also some type of operation you can get done to the actual sweat glands. But it's meant to be very risky.

I use to use sanex, which I think it, the best chemical deodorant. But now I use a deodorant from lush. It doesn’t stop you sweating but it does neutralise the smell extremely well. I cycle 12 miles everyday and still smell fine in the evening. Plus it doesn’t contain aluminium like all other chemical deodorants on the market. Although I’m not fully sure what the affect are of a metal like that seeping in through your pores everyday is, I’m sure its not good.

Also on no medical evidence proving that anti-per give you cancer, I’m just wondering how long did it take them to accept that cigarettes gave you cancer before they finally started to put warnings on the boxes. I’m not say that deodorant is as bad as smoking but blocking your pores with metals and chemical everyday for your whole life cant be good (like a lot of things in life). My point is that there are natural alternatives that I personally think are better.

The tube of deodorant from lush cost about €7 but last between my boyfriend and me for at least 2 months. It smells lovely and works brilliantly plus you don’t have to wait for it to dry

If you want a strong night before product then go for Driclor, you can get it in Boots for €10.

What I heard about botox is it cost around the €600 mark and last for 3 to 6 months.. the celebs mainly get it done going to the Oscars and the likes!!

Hi Judesherry, can you give any more details on Lush...where can u buy it, thanks....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 98 ✭✭judesherry

lush is a shop just off colleege green on the way to grafton st. Youll smell it before you get there. the best one is called Aromacreme Deoderant its a thick cream. there are other deodrant bars but these are crap. they have a whole range of other cosmetic saops and stuff which some are good and some arent. but their all handmade and natual. It might seem a bit expensive but i find alot of their product last a long time. so it works out alot cheaper than shops

Ok I understand that you are looking for an antiperspirant but they are not the best as they dont allow you to sweat which you should be doing as your body is getting rid of waste etc through your sweat and you dont really want to block pores.

I assume that the smell is the reason that you wish not to perspire?
If you can deal with sweat that doesnt smell then I would suggest that you switch to rock crystal deoderants.
I first discovered them about 10 years ago in Germany and have used them since.
Basically it is a stick of crystal that you run under the tap and use whereever you want on the body. They work by allowing you to sweat normally but provide an unfriendly atmosphere for bacteria and you WILL NOT smell even though you sweat a lot. Once applied they work for about 48 hours, even up to 72.
    http://www.crystaldeodorantprotection.com/

That site there shows an example of them, Once you buy it you wont have to buy another deo for 2-3 years as it wears down very slowly.
I have already converted a number of people to this and they are all thrilled with them.
Give it a go, you wont go back to anything else after they are so effective.

Shaving yout arm pits only reduces the bacteria by a small bit, mitchum is great (the one in the green bottle)

Hi there .. been looking around for a topic like this!!

I stopped using anti perspirant years ago when my arm pits came out in terrible septic jobbies ... to me it makes sense not to block pores and stop a natural process BUT ... i work in an office, and wear a suit. I sweat when i get a bit anxious, and look like the guy from the lynx ads - serious wet patches under the arms. I used the lynx spray, but it stung my pits like mad, so am now trying a sure roll on for sensitive skin (bless!). It sorts out the sweating on my left pit 100%, but by right pit still sweats like mad! Wonder if i should be using a stronger product? Its not the smell that matters so much to me, but the appearance ...

    Thanks!

I was watching This Morning last week and they were testing anti persperant deodorants and the spray that won was Boots own brand. Think its for sensitive skin also. They were also very impressed.

If you suffer badly then Driclor is your only man!! I use it but dont suffer from sensitive skin so dont know about how it will suit your requirements!

Its €12 in Boots for a 20ml but some lad on ebay sells them for €30 for 3 x 50 ml bottles!

i'm in fekn agony using this stuff  like someone has set about my armpits with a hot poker. driclor worked for me, although it does make you a little itchy for first night, it's nothing compared to the torture of Anhydrol Forte

+1 for Mitchum. I've used the roll-on, stick and the spray and they're all brilliant.
