carb loading

    a friend of mine has a big championship match soon. He already has his diet sorted out for the day but i was wondering is there any sort of carb manipulation he could use to make sure he's completely carbed up for the day?.... low carbs for a couple of days before then a very high amount 700+ the day before and match day? His normal intake is about 450 -500g?

    any ideas?

    I did a bit of carb loading before a couple of fights last year.
    I did it when I was cutting weight
    Cut weight for a week before the fights, no bread, limited water
    then 2 days beforehand started loading on carbs, ie. pasta and rice. you'd wanna be eating maybe 4 meals a day with good amounts of these carbs in it, but if he is cutting you need to be very carefull re: water content.

    I wouldnt carb load only the day before though :)
