    Hi,
    I came across this website
    www.powerbreathe.com
Have any of you any first hand experience of this.
Was thinking about giving it a shot for a few weeks to see if it would cut me swim, run and cycle times!! :)

    Regards,
    MIke

They are excellent. The GB -4 used them (Pinsent, Cracknell, Foster, Redgrave, Coode & Williams) from 1999 onwards.

They used them as a prequel to their warm-up on the water or ergometer, they all said it was a good thing to use as it strengthened the diaphragm.

Definitely worth a shot and best to treat it as a serious piece of equipment and do it a set number of days per week at a set time etc.

Will not necessarily increase vo2 or make you fitter but might make you more efficeint at using what o2 uptake you have.

You can get them online in the UK for not a lot.

Let us know how you get on.

    They sell them in Argos.

£42 in argos. Cheapest online is £39.99, suspect the retail for £49.99. Won't be cheap as I reckon the mark-up is not huge. Logic here is it's something you buy just once unless you lose it.

    Hey,

We sell them in Star Fitness, in Arnotts and in our Bray branch. They're a bit expensive, as they retail at €70. That said I've used the fitness model, and found a good deal of improvement. That said I've also increased my cardio workouts. I know Paula Radcliff swears by them.

What do you sell them at Boru? We all know nobody sells at rrp nowadays! :)

    Hey,

I honestly sell them at €70. That said if anyone from boards wants one, I'll arrange a discount. Just mention you were talking about it on boards.

    Boru.

My brother did the Sports Science degree in U.L. and for his thesis researched the effect of respiratory devices like Powerbreathe to improve performance. The long and short of his findings were they work.

    Joker77,

Any chance to have a glance at the thesis? Does your brother have it
    online somewhere?
