Workout Equipment

I have a threadmill and crosstrainer at home but I'd like to add a bit of variety to my workouts and I'm not a fan of home aerobics videos or anything like that so I want to buy a bike and also maybe a rower.

I'm still undecided on the rower so just wanted to ask- are they good for weightloss? Would they tone triceps? Or would anyone suggest some other piece of equipment? Also about the bike, does it matter if it is an upright or recumbent one ( spelt wrong I'd say!) or is it just a preference thing? I know the recumbent ones support your back but any other difference?

    Thanks

Once your heart is beating in your fat loss range (a little bit less intensive than fitness/endurance bpm) then you will lose fat. I will try and find a chart for age height and weight to determine your ideal bpm for fat loss. The best way to do it is to do a bit less for longer period of time.

In relation to your triceps a rower wont specifically tone up your triceps as it is all pulling movement so it will work your biceps and back more. Also dont forget if you fat triceps then you just need to lose fat rather than trying to tone muscle under fat. Its like a fat person doing lots of sit-ups to try and tone up their waist, they will tone up their ab muscles but it will still be under the fat on their belly... Their is no way to lose fat of a specific area by just using the muscles in that area.
