waste of time even hitting the ball with that

ring a decent Camán supplier and get yourself a proper stick

Anyone remember plastic hurleys back in the 80s?

Some tool thought it'd change the way the game was played

Do you actually recognise the makers logo, or what are you basing that on? The problem is I'm in Dublin and am hoping to get one by Friday (it's a present for someone else). I know I left it a bit late, but anybody got any ideas?

Ah the good old Wavin hurley, the same crowd as the pipes. As far as I know ash was getting scarce at the time. They must be a collectors item by now but then again who collects bad hurls.

The Wavin hurley was a mad thing........ one hard smack and the thing shattered.

For proterity sake I put two away in storage a long time ago...they were the ivory of their time!

I can't remember was it Arnotts or Clearys I've seen them in but one of them stock Hurls by John Torpey from Clare. I know a lot of the Clare team use them and I use them myself. They are a good hurl.

Was talking to the Da about the Wavin hurl last night, he said it was on Reeling In The Years one night last week.

Apparently the inventor reckoned they were going to be the next big thing and not only would save the trees but would revolutionise the game!

    What a tool!!

Elvery's on Suffolk Street should have hurleys. None listed on the website though.

There's always the GAA shop at the Museum in Croker, I'd imagine they have them

OP, The clubs website are probably selling the hurls that they use themselves so it should be fine. All hurley makers charge similar prices and after that it comes down to personal preference. The only crap hurls i have seen are the ones in Lifestyle. Presumably it was a big contract and they got them a lot cheaper than normal and this is reflected in the quality. That was a few years ago I seen that though so the quality of hurls in shops may have improved but i'd suggest buying off a club (or direct from the maker if possible) if you can.
