What does 'DCU' stand for?

Aside from the obvious Dublin City University, what else could DCU stand for? Essentially, you have to describe DCU using words that start with DCU. Not as hard as it sounds, surely?

    Degrees/Certs Unlimited...?

    ...
    seriously?
    are you for real?

This place is dead compared to UCD/TCD, why wouldn't I be? If you can do something better - I'd be more than happy to see it.

BTW; great second post on the DCU forum. I can see you're gonna be a mighty productive member on campus (i.e. a moaner).

Dude, can't understand your reason for posting this.
Is it just mindless drivel, or is it for a competition or something?

Do Current unrelated events push you to post this here, or are you just retarded?

Does capitalism undermine your ability to go out and not spam places with rubbish?

    heh. These
definetly could use some improvement, actually.

There ya go ;) told ya I'd be happy!

It's just harmless 'spam' in reality man - but hey, it's something...if it prompts someone else to say "screw that, I'm gonna post something constructive that has been on my mind" then the forum will be far more active, won't it :)?

    Definite Culchie University :P

That's the attitude that has DCU in the state that it is.

But hey, if you think nothing would be better, so be it.

    Dreadful computer ubiquity...
    Dull Campus, Unfortunately!

I think topic clearly shows its more other peoples idea of "entertainment" that has DCU in the state it is.

    Carry on.......

Hey come on folks give NoelRock a chance! When I saw the title for this thread I got the impression that, like me, he has become disillusioned with what it actually means to be a student in DCU. When I started out in 1st year I had wild eyed visions of people getting together, sitting out on the grass, sipping cans of beer, chatting about an idealistic bright and hopeful future and generally just hanging out and having a good time. Unfortunately however, this just couldn't be further from reality. I don't know what it is. The people generally seem nice and friendly enough but people in DCU tend to stick to themselves and their own group of friends which seems to consist of people from their course or some clicky society and the atmosphere is just dull.

The bar is probably the most boring of all student bars I have ever been in.
Has anyone ever went to the Pav in trinity? There are people lying out on the grass, chatting, playing with frisbees, running around having water fights or beer fights at all times of day. Or in Galway the students take over the whole city and mayhem ensues. Brilliant crack..

Come on folks lets live it up a little. You're only young once and all work and no play and all that.......... :D

I think a lot of it is to do with the courses DCU offer. There's few Humanities courses (like Arts), so the people tend to be less diverse and less "people-orientated"

I agree, but I'm doing Engineering which couldn't be further from an arts course and I still feel the way I do. Surely someone must be with me??

I have to say I am, but threads like this and "what are you listening to now" just get on my tits.

I agree with your original post and I'm doing CA. But I'm not exactly an out-going person, and I wouldn't instigate any of the stuff you're talking about. You need the kind of bubbly, out-going type of person, possibly an air-head (no offence) to start that kind of stuff, and in general they don't do Engineering or Computers.

Actually I don't agree with you over the student bar, I think it's great, and doesn't get the credit it should. Which is part of the problem. People say it's crap and don't go, so it becomes crap etc etc.

At least give kudos to McFiddler for attempting to put a decent spin on it. Although "What are you listening to now?" and similar threads should be banned

And thats exactly what alot of us do. And I do it all with friends I met IN college, none of this coming to college with your own clicky group or anything. Same goes for the bar, a few of us go down most nights, have a few drink, play some pool and have abit of a laff. I will say however that this year it got an awful lot quieter than in my first year, not really sure what the cause of that is...

..Oh and yes, I do CA. Just cos your a Computers or Engineering student doesnt mean you have to be a dry-****e as the stigma suggests.... :D

Because DCU students are not busy spending their time on the internet and enjoy a great life on campus !! :D:D;)

BTW TCD is full of tourists and UCD ...(no comment)

Fair point about the atmosphere at DCU but to be honest you're not there to have water fights, that was what primary school was for. You're there to study. Sure you can have fun and I'm pretty sure alot of people there do, but that doesn't mean you have to run around butt naked covered in beer..
