I dunno, I trust your collective testimonies, but is he better than Karl? I mean... Karl.

I'd like to offer you a job with the state police association of Massachusetts. I understand you're very qualified.

I'm going to have to agree with Raph on this one. I'll say no more coz I don't want to be mean.

I has to vote 'yes but dont make a big deal of it' pureply because I want to continue making money off Karlstock. Right now I tihnk I will announce that Jen and I hold all the rights to the James Avery name and any money to be made on his name is OURS.

    on the subject of spam,
i microwaved SPAM(the food substitute) and it just got wet, so i made atea out of it.
Liz how are you entitled to any rights(james avery or basic human)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 620 ✭✭✭Mr.D.Leprachaun

Well I was being serious tbh! Perhaps it could be the equal of Karlstock so you'd have twice as many money making oppurtunities Liz and let me asure you that I have no financial interest in this. Money is evil. And I'm to lazy to make T-shirts. Anyway shouldn't it go to someone in need? Wait a minute, anyone fancy a charity event next-year with Radio-Head instead of an archaeology lecture? :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭PurpleFistMixer

I would give money to NOT go to the archaeology lecture.

Then support I Love James Day!

Wouldn't it be funny if James happened to be looking around the internet, and suddenly discovered this? He'd feel like Karl.
James Day should be the 2nd Tuesday of the course in both sessions. Why that day? I don't know. I just picked a day at random.

You make a profit off Karlstock, Liz!? That's a horribleness the likes of which I can't even describe well. Foreshame.

I recant that remark, When I posted it I thought it was just a spammy carbon copy of the other thread.

What is Karlstock? Who is Karl? I was a newbie this year and I saw the t-shirts and everything and I can't help wonder who is Karl? What did he do? Inform me!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 620 ✭✭✭Mr.D.Leprachaun

    That's okay! I love you really R4ph! :D

Btw, Lord Cran, I like your style! Where'd you get the Harpo pic? as you probably guessed from my sig I would kill for a Graucho one! Well, that may be a slight exageration but I'd quite like one!

I was new this year too. Karl was in my class. Apparently he said something incredibly profound in Philosophy class once, and now everyone worships him. He has decent taste in music.
Mr. D. Leprachaun, I got my cool Harpo avatar from the selection. It's under "movies", and there's a Groucho one too.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 620 ✭✭✭Mr.D.Leprachaun

:D Thank you very much Cran!
I was told (by someone who wasn't in philosophy) that Karl didn't actually do anything of interest which is what makes him fascinating! Your explaination seems more plausible, though, (even if it isn't so amuing!). ;)

    Karl's a Legend.

    That is all.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 270 ✭✭LordCran

Indeed he is. He applauded everything he said on his birthday. I was appointed his spokesman. Then he forgot, and started talking. And we clapped loudly. Funnyness and hilarity, in equal measure.

all i know about karl is that the IH class were all taking the piss out of him for having such a small range of facial expressions. it was something like:
    karl, happy:
    karl, sad:
karl being attacked by midgets  *flailing hands at waist level*

Back on the subject of the poll, what say ye that those who support James Day join together, regardless of whether you think it should be the biggest day or not, to root out these three nay-sayers who would oppose it and lynch/poke/land-mine them. I only included the option as a sarcastic joke!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 132 ✭✭Un-Big

Hmmm, correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't making a profit off I Love James Avery Day be completely against what the day stand for in the first place? If anyone does make a profit on it, wouldn't it make more sense to give it to charity?

That has got to be the most intelligent thing I've said in a loooooooong time O.o

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 620 ✭✭✭Mr.D.Leprachaun

I pointed that out Jean and was suddenly inspired to try to start a campaign to make it the replacement for the archaeology lecture! Will you join me?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 132 ✭✭Un-Big

Oh, so much for intelligence then =\. I may, or I may not. Depends on how lazy I am. And how much you pay me =D

Or possibly both. I support the Radiohead-concert-instead-of-Archaeology-lecture idea. But what would Vinnie do?

james avery day should be on the first friday of each seesion and should end by every student lying down in the quad whilst street spirit is played loudly!! all in favour?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 372 ✭✭Outcast

It can be another of our many quad protests!

What? We couldn't have a successful quad protest, it's against everything we believe in. Failure is a tradition!

When did we have a quad protest before?

    Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!
youre not getting rid of the archaelogy lecture!!
despite its boring repetitiveness its the last bastion of old CTY, dont take that away.
plus i had it for four years and im f**cked if ye b*stards are getting out of it after 1 or 2 years.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 620 ✭✭✭Mr.D.Leprachaun

Okay! We shall honour the old ways and not interfere with the lecture. As for a quad protest, wtf is a quad protest? Anyway this must be a success so it can't be one! Remember we are honouring James, not the tradition of failure. You can have your civil disobedience anther day! Lying down at least once in the day to listen to Street Spirit is a definite IMO, but we have to make sure to do other stuff! A helluva lotta signs are in order similar to I Love Roisín Day (which I think we should have as well whether or not she's there) and Karlstock-esque clothing. Of course other crazy ideas are welcome! As to the date I like Cran's second Tuesday, very random but also very central! Needless to say I have no authority over this, so feel free to throw this all back in my face. It's just the way I'd like to see it done! :o

P.S. Anyone up for a one day social boycott on the six nay-sayers as part of the event on less they repent and tak part?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 566 ✭✭✭elephamt king

no social boycott, for i am the 5th nay-sayer (sounds prophetic)

Hmmmm, well they generally last less than two minutes. They involve us refusing to go to our rooms and telling everyone to stay sitting in the quad. Once it almost developed into a riot when someone (who shall remain nameless) threw the biggest armful of grass into someone elses face.

Anyway, will we really have enough James Avery fans to host an effective James Avery Day?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 620 ✭✭✭Mr.D.Leprachaun

Okay. Boycott them all 'cept Guy (traitor!). Are we to believe, Guy, that what you voted against was the replacement of the lecture? If so I think you can be pardoned. Just don't let it happen again! I'm sure we'll have enough! But just in case I think that for several days in the run-up we should have a James awareness campaign to gather support. We could also intimidate people into taking part! I'm northern. :D

Ah yes i remember that now!ahhh....memories..

Yeah would there be enough people because alot of people at the reunion could have been nevermores...
Though on the other hand I suppose there WAS alot of people there that day, so maybe there will be enough...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11 fortytwo

of course there would be enough. if even ten people lay day whilst listening to street spirit loudly others would follow. but still the james avery awareness campaign is needed for the newbies... how would we get tshirts tho?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 114 ✭✭Manda5678

yeah especially in session one which is full of newbies!
If I was there next year I'd lie down..but sadly i wont be there

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 372 ✭✭Outcast

We have pictures from the reunion. You had a tshirt making business last year didn't you? You can make them :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 270 ✭✭LordCran

Now I just know this is going to turn into Karlstock, except James won't be around to get amused every time he sees someone wearing one of his t-shirts. If people have Karlstock t-shirts next year, it won't be the same, since Karl will be gone. But not in spirit.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 620 ✭✭✭Mr.D.Leprachaun

I do honestly think that there should be collections during the day to be contributed to whatever the archaelogy lecture is going to. And there must be more actual events then Karlstock such as Radiohead appreciation etc.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 372 ✭✭Outcast

But what about Vinnie? He would be so hurt...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 620 ✭✭✭Mr.D.Leprachaun

I mean in cooperation with the lecture.
