    Hey lads
I don’t know if anyone has heard of this before but a few weeks ago i started to get pain in both my biceps during training. I do a good bit of weight training mostly upper body and also martial art training. Anyway when weight training this problem doesn’t bother me at all even when doing biceps. But after and towards the end of martial art training lately iam get really sore pains in my biceps. This training does go on for a while and evolves allot of pulling and pushing. Its not like cramps and i do stretch them before each session but more like a build up of something in them. If anyone has any help greatly appreciated otherwise iam going to a physio as this is annoying me

    thanks

that just sounds like lactic acid build up to me. it happens when you stop respiring aerobically, glucose isn't completely broken down- lactic acid is the product of that to put it simply.

Just take it easy in your arm workouts (reduce your sets or even a complete break) for a bit and see if this pain persists when martial arts training - if so then definately get yourself to a physio.

Do you stretch out properly after heavy weight training? It's possible that your muscles aren't getting stretched back to usual length after being contracted strongly, and your martial arts training probably stretches them further than they want to go (bear in mind that static stretching before dynamic exercise is not only pretty much useless, but can even increase the likelyhood of injury according to Thomas Kurz)

Whatever you are doing in your routines, do 50% less for a few days, see if there is an improvement and then add in more until you reach 80% of what you were doing before. Then raise the bar slowly and hold the level or drop slightly if the pain returns.

Go to a physio or doctor if the pain persists when not exercising or it doesn't improve.

    thanks for the info.
@ Sico Ya i do stretch before training but not usually after so will start to do that as well.
the other thing is ye are saying to reduce weight. Weight training does not seem to bother them at all. its only when iam doing the marital art training. I think it more endurance training for long periods thats effecting them. So would that be due to build up of lactic as tribilus said. Is there any way to reduce this?
    Thanks again

I think the idea was that by doing less weight training on your biceps they would be better rested for when your at martial arts training.

Give it a try and see if it works, if not see a qualified person about it.
