Damn! I thought I'd be back first! Anyway.....

So yeah, the film rawked! I can't believe they let you take pictures though. Nice job. I'm most amazed that we got Jewel and Sean! I thought nobody would come! That's so cool. Thanks to UIP for setting that little doozy up. :D

God, Jewel is so hot. Even in person.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 432 ✭✭Daelus

Hey, I was standing almost right beside you when you took that pic, I think!

That movie rocks! And Sean and Jewel looked gorgeous. But no surprise there. I got my Kaylee comic signed by both of them. But was in too much of a daze to say much.

It's definitely a movie you don't want to be spoiled for. I agree with the clampdown on spoilers thing.

    I liked it :)

Plus Whedon's intro was funny - hope it makes it to the DVD cut.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,217 ✭✭✭TheIrishGrover

Wasn't it cool when it.... and they..... and that whole thing with the....... Seriously, great show... and how cool were Jewel Staite, Sean Maher and Chris Buchannan, answering those questions and generally being very funny and genuine. (I was the nerd who asked about the first crew shot... No spoiler).... Can't stop the signal? Hell, spread the signal!!! ..... DTW... did ye know they'd be there? Oh yeah, and that intro by Joss? Cool to see that. Prob on the DVD but to see it there. ..... (Smug :) ) Haha

I got to ask the first question ("When's the next film!?")! Hahaha! You can never take that away from me!

'cos it looked like NOONE was gonna start didn't it. It was like.......... HOLY ****....whaddawedonow?

    yep awkward indeed

    man that film rocked

kayley is soo hot (but i kind of prefer her with a bit more meat on her ala firefly)

being the nerd i am, i asked hayley about her appearance in SG Atlantis

she said her wraith character is really cool, & im guessing hot :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,767 ✭✭✭Hugh Hefner

God yeah! I was worried that nobody would say anything and they'd be all like, "That Dublin gig sucked ass." Which would have been a little embarrassing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,892 ✭✭✭madrab

damn it when is it out on general release? i wanna watch it again

Yeah but I said I was looking forward to it before you asked her the question, so I beat your nerdy antics and win :p

Really enjoyed it. A good mix of humour, action, drama and scares. Lived up to the series, which is sometimes hard in the jump to the big screen.

Anyone else looking forward to the gag reel on the DVD?? :D

Thanks to Universal, UIP and UGC/Cineworld for screening it, and Jewel and Sean were great fun, so glad it was them! Let me be the first to say, Sean/Simon is HOT in the flesh :p

Oh hell yeah.I mean, the DVD's gotta be cool seeing as Whedon (And, by the sounds of it, the rest of 'em too) seems to be dedicated to his fans. Gag reel on Firefly's great..... Funny what Jewel Staite said about Adam Baldwin: nicking anything that wasn't nailed down....... Jayne's head from Jaynestown. Hahahaha (Love his version of "The Hero Of Canton" on the DVD)

It was great, I was hoping someone from the cast would be there, and someone that plays a main character, but two? Sweet. Loved it. I'm glad I brought the DVD booklet, only thing I have that isn't too dark to be signed.

Two thumbs up for the film itself, it was great, very funny, great action, great performances all round by all the cast, on top form.

I felt the urge to ask Sean to take his shirt off, but that might have been a little creepy.. :o He has a great smile. And he smiled at me! And.. every other person there. :p

There were two empty seats near me in the cinema, so either:

    1) Some insane person decided not to come

    OR

    2) That it was meant for the actors but they chose not to sit in. I heard that at other preview screenings, like in Manchester, the actors sat with the audience....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

Ixoy were you beside me and sutty?

anyhow, i was the one who asked the random odd questions, such as the how good was he one, and whats it like having a little sister character who can beat you up - even if Sean didnt seem to cop what i meant on the second...

amazing film :) never been so exhausted after a movie though :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 432 ✭✭Daelus

My legs were trembling. When everyone got up to clap for Jewel and Sean coming in, I almost fell over! :o That movie was emotionally exhausting. And so utterly brilliant.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 696 ✭✭✭Kevok

Emotionally exhausting? Try jarring. Rollercoaster all the way through. Fantastic film, surpassed all my expectations. Plus the single best Guest appearance that there ever could be (Jewel).

Chris Buchanan, the producer was incredibly nice and had a good chat with a few of us after the film.

Oh and they searched my bag going in for recording equipment. I had to laugh at the 'heavies' they had.

I got to ask the first question ("When's the next film!?")! Hahaha! You can never take that away from me!

I asked "Who .... " in response to your question also "Did you want to come to Ireland or did you draw straws". (Which I am sure a few fans want to lynch me after they said they would stop questions :D)

Seriously I have never seen a crowd in shock before. Jewel says "Any questions?" and everyone is gobsmacked. I think everyone was still a bit in shock over the movie (no spoiler but you know what I mean *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*).

When they were signing the guy in front handed over a comic I said "Make it out to Ebay", the guy laughed but Jewel said something like "Don't put this on ebay" or something like that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,037 ✭✭✭SteM

I've only ever seen one episode of the show but myself and missus went along last night. What - a - movie. Dear lord, it was just brilliant. 6 weeks is just to long to have to wait to see it again. No way did it play like a 2 hour film, the time just flew by.

Absolutely fantastic night. Can't ever remember being so happy after a film and Jewel Sean and Chris were just so nice.
Can anyone tell me what actors they had at the other screenings?

Gina and Adam were in Manchester.
Nathan and Morena were in Birmingham.
    Joss and Summer in London.

Nathan and Morena were only other ones to do a signing though. And then it seems it only started because Nathan did a few while waiting for Morena to get out of the bathroom Then she joined in when she got out.

    We were damned lucky people.

First off that was a FANTASTIC movie. So many laughs, so many OH NO's!!! and thhe such.

Second, I see spoilers about this movie untill the release and people get a beating with the Chain of command ;)

I am so recked right now. I went out to the woolshead with a few. Then went to the Mezz to meet some mates. Then went back to theirs and introduced them to Firefly (seeing as I was bouncing around the place they wanted to see why) Five Eps later and it was 7am and time for bed. Then up at 9am for work :(

    Stunning, stunning movie!
I was sooo excited when they said who was there, I was like WTF! WOOOHOOO.

I too as the rest of the croud where stunned by who was there.

I got to ask Sean "So how many takes did you get to do with Nathan" and that part (no spoilers lol)

They where really nice and both signed my DVD book... I was happy :D

PS... and there was me and crash thinking that sitting in the front row would suck :D
Sadly all my pictures of Jewel and Sean came out crap :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,997 ✭✭✭jaggeh

my picture came out much worse than it looks there, i did a bit of tweaking with picasa, and even then that was the only useable one.

Send me on all the pics please Jaggeh.

I was the person who laughed a silly laugh at Sean Maher's inadvertent 'Universal' pun. Erk.
And yes, I think we were all still gobsmacked from THAT SCENE. I keep rerunning it in my head. Can't stop.

Sean Maher is so much cuter in real life. Strange.

My memory of Sean smiling at me is already fading! Don't fade, dammit, DON'T FADE! :o

It took me a while to register that I was actually watching 'Serenity'. After a year and a half of waiting.. I just hope there's a sequel. This can't be the end! :D And I thought the comics were good, but they're nothing compared to the movie!

Wow, I must go see it again. I hope there's another advance screening. Soon.

Heh, thats what Sean would *like* to happen. :p

Chris made no comment on that though.

I asked him what with the name, did he have any Irish connections: (Obvious, I know, but hey) apparently, family's from Dingle but hus last relative here died some year ago. Said the last time he was in Ireland was down to her

Have to say I was very impressed at the film too, as one of the lads said, it was much better than he thought it could have been.

I totally wasnt expecting any of the actors to show up at the end (heard about the showing from friends who didnt bother mentioning it to me assuming I already knew) and neither were of the people who came in with me, which was a nice suprise, particularly Jewel being there ("Dear Diary ... Jackpot"). although it was a bit worrying when we walked in first - had a bomb gone off in there, Irelands nerd and geek population would have suffered catastrophic casualties ... :)

Even the guys who'd never seen an episode of Serenity were impressed with the film overall, theres a lot of humour in it which is good, and the fans of Serenity are going to love it. The bit by Joss Whedon at the start was funny too (gotta love that French accent).

I was hoping for another series to come out of this, but that doesnt look too likely after the events of the film - hopefully it will be picked up as a franchise.

And if nothing else, I got a nice picture of myself and Jewel Staite, so all is well :)

Post it up there and anyone else that got ones. I tried but I dont think they came out very well due to being two far back for my poor old camera.

As for picking up a new series, sadly they cant due to Fox still owning the rights to the TV show. (But not a movie, comic book and so on)

The thing that really gets to me. Is that everyone that goes to the cinema and is a first timer to Firefly/Serentiy verse, likes the movie and then goes out and buys the Firefly series DVD. Will be in fact handing money over to Fox, for doing nothing but canning the show in its infent stages...althought it would be nice if fox came back to joss and the crew on their hands and knees begging them to start up from where they left off... But I douth that will ever happen as fox wouldn't know a good thing if it hit them in the face.

Well - it wouldnt have been with Fox. Whedon said in an interview that he would never work with Fox again. I was hoping Sci-fi or another one of the US stations might pick it up, as I'd heard reports that thats what Whedon was hoping for too, but apparently not. :(

I seriously hope someone in Fox got shafted after the ballsup they made out of Firefly - showing the episodes out of order, changing the times, missing episodes, not showing the pilot first etc - I dont think any tv show could have survived that.

    Right, vanity photo :)

That's a nice pic. She actually looks like Kaylee in that - I was kind of thrown by her being slim and wearing heels and make-up instead of cute, curvy little Kaylee with her messy hair and dirty face. Was also very thrown by Sean being so cute and sparkly-eyed. I have no pics at all. But my memories will keep me warm when I am old and grey...

All down to the water-padded bra apparently ;)

Heh, which reminds me, II wonder what Adam Baldwin did with the plaster head he took from Jaynestown. (although I probably would have taken it too :) )
