Big Generator are from my town, so it's just gonna be like home!

(The fact I've never gone to see them, in the last ten years means nothing...nothing at all :) )

    The Blizzards are playing!

They are mighty. Saw them at Oxegen and they were so much fun. Bought their single and was very dissapointed but I reckon this will be great.

was pirate night as awful as everyone's been saying? heard not many dressed up or anything.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,117 ✭✭✭✭MrJoeSoap

Pirate night was quite poor. There were a few but mainly people from the Students Union.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 11,382 Mod ✭✭✭✭lordgoat

YYYAAAARRRGGGHHHH pirate night was terrrriffic, but there should have been more pirates out...

Apart from two people (who may or may not be on Boards!) I heard it was boring and not many people made the effort. Shame on ye freshers, shame on ye!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 664 ✭✭✭Nimrod's Son

I made the effort unlike most of the other scurvy sea-dogs there. Serious lack of pirates. Ah well, I had my fun and that's all that matters.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,616 ✭✭✭ClareBear

Yes Nimrod, that's all that matters! I can't wait to see those photos! :D

Hey, I`m a first year by the way. The SU bar sucks. I hate the way its laid out or something, its hard to just go up and talk to people you don`t know because of it. The Pirate thing was crap and the school disco was dead too. Like in a dico you should be able to dance! why did`nt they push all the chairs and that to the side like they do for the Bar Ex?

Wednesday night was great fun though and I`m really looking forword too Tuesday to see The Blizzards.

I haven't gone to any of the freshers fortnight stuff, I'm either too tired or too busy. We tried getting into the quiz but there were no chairs so me and my roommates went to the Roost. I love the look of the SU bar and everything but the music is way too loud. You can't just sit and talk. And everybody I've talked to has said that to me aswell.
I am looking forward to next week though. The Tuesday bar-ex is good cuz I've no classes til 12 the next day, I'm looking forward to the Comedy night and I can't wait to join some clubs and socs..

Its only like that for Freshers week because theres a DJ. It's alright in terms of noise levels during the year.

Yeah wht's the story with the sound inside there, it's crap. The music is turned up so loud that the speakers just keep on buzzing. Gotta love the E3 fosters though....he who drinks australian, thinks australian........(brewed in cork).....

Oh good, I really like the look of the place and if the music was a bit lower I would definitely go there more often.

Its the limiters I think. Where was the DJ setup? If it was at the top of the stairs or under them, the DJ is way behind the speakers, and its hard to get a good representation of just how loud (or not) the sound is. And, if the volume out from his mixer is too loud in volume to the amps, then the limiter will cut back certain frequencies in the sounds it outputs to the amps, and therefore the sound coming out of the speakers is not as good.

    Seanie.

Holy God, is it still Fresher's Week? The Roost was pretty jammed last night. Many of the clientele were fresh-faced, wide-eyed youngsters who looked like they didn't know what they were supposed to be doing. That gave me a laugh! I'm hoping that the traffic in the pub slows down as the academic year goes on cos I need my peace and quiet.
    Yours etc.,
    Cantankerous Old Bastard. ;)
