    im looking to get into linux but i dont know which one to get. can u plz help me.. also the pc ill be using is an amd k6 3d processor (400 mhz i think) with 64mb of ram and a 4gb hdd.. is that good enough?

    That should be fine as long as you don't plan to do anything too intensive. I believe there's a sticky on the subject of distros for beginners. Check it out, yo.

    sure yeah, grab ubuntu or whatever.. , arch linux is pretty nice, but maybe a little advanced.
    Hey some tips though if your new.
    Compiling takes time on slow machines, so stay away from source unless you dont mind a very slow install XD
    Id also try to stay away from gnome and kde, especially kde, they are pretty intensive these days. If you plan on running a graphical setup, Id advise xorg with a lightweight window manager, like openbox or fluxbox.
    You can do most stuff on commandline, anyway, and it's a better way to learn :)

    With only 64M of RAM, a lot of distros may leave you with a disappointingly slow system.

    Try Damn Small Linux and install it to disk.

    Alternatively, take a look at Vector Linux.

    Both of these, particularly DSL will play well with older hardware.
