I've heard they're making a WonderWoman movie directed my Joss Whedon due for release in 2007.

I'd love to see Jessica Alba cos she is so damn hot.

    Who could play Wonder Woman?

According to IMDB these are the rumoured actressess:

Charisma Carpenter, Kim Basinger, Lucy Lawless, Salma Hayek, Michelle Rodriguez, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Sandra Bullock, Nadia Bjorlin and Jennifer Lopez.

Don't know most of the actresses you list but Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jennifer Lopez would be dreadful choices imo - so would Sandra Bullock unless she is a lot more athletic than I remember her being. Only actress there I thinnk fits the bill would be Lucy Lawless really, and I would not like to see her in the role.
Jessica Alba would be good probably (I've never seen her acting). I thought Jet from Gladiators when I saw the thread title. Not a possibility I know but ideal from a physical POV I reckon.
Halle Berry or Angelina Jolie might be ok

If the film does come out, I'd prefer them to pick an unknown actor, cos I can;t think of a single person who would be good.
She'd have to be very athletic. And tall.

To answer your question I would give it to Angelina

I'd love to see Jessica Alba cos she is so damn hot.

She is great looking but she can't really act.

    Maybe Eliza Dushku.

Is Joss Whedon confirmed to be writing it?

I couldn't find the film section... sorry if I upset anybody??? But does it really matter? It's a valid question and the film cast can be reviewed even if it hasn't been selected... it's just a film review forum, didn't say which aspect of the film you had to review.

Anyway it's all cool. Some good sugestions there though. LMFAO over Angela Landsbury. So many shivers running down my spine.

Do you think Beyonce would be a good choice?

And whoever said Orlando Bloom... mate I think you'll be going to see that film by yourself?

Any body else got any views on it? I'm not sure about a sportsperson doing it... although a whole film of Anna Kournikova would be sweeeetttt!!!!

sorry edit here ----> Jessica Alba is 10 times the actress Eliza Dushku is and 100 times better looking! Did you not see her in Sin City??? And not to mention everything else she has ever been in?

I seen a girl in a bar dressed up like Wonder Woman,I said to her "I wonder what a woman like you is doing in a place like this" It went straight over her head.Maybe she would be perfect for the role....

I like the idea of an unknown actress for the part.

Jessica Alba is a truly awful actress. Seriously, her performance in Fantastic Four was so bad that it somehow managed to cancel out her hotness. Also, I think she is too young for the role. I may not go to see it if she were cast, and I'm a huge DC Comics fan. Of he suggestions above, I think Angelina Jolie would be best, but I prefer the idea of an unknown. Whoever it is, she had better be able to radiate presence and confidence. Jessica Alba radiates ineptitude.

Evangeline Lilly (Kate in 'Lost') - she was a firm favourite at one point and i reckon would make a better WW than Angelina Jolie and all those more obvious choices!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 552 ✭✭✭Hank_Scorpio

I don't know how anyone can say Jessica Alba is a bad actress. Fantasitc Four was just badly written and all the acting sucked all the way through it for each character. It wasn't a great movie.

I like the idea of Kate from LOST but does she have the body to pull it off?

    I agree. She'd be perfect.

Give to Lynda Carter again. She's 54 now and still looking better than 99% of women half her age.

Elisha Dushku would be class, as also would Jessica Alba, I think. Both those girls have done serious kick-ass roles before with aplomb.

Yeah i gotta agree on Eliza Dushku, she has the look and the talent

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,021 ✭✭✭bopper

Jessica Alba cannot act for ****e, she was awful in everything she's done (and yes I'm including Sin city in that) she only gets offered roles because of her looks.

I read that Kate Beckinsale said she'd love the role. I think she'd be perfect!

My ideal 'w0nder w0man' would have to be, Scarlet Johnson after seeing her in 'the island' in that tight jumpsuit owwhhaa mah gwad :D shes 1 sexah divel :P, my second choice would most definately be yes you heard it here 1st, Rachel Stevans shes a hot fox babeh ;D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 150 ✭✭ScruffySlayer

    Hmmm it's a good question
SMG: Maybe. She was amazing in Buffy and Joss would know exactly what she could do but I can't see her or Joss clicking on this one. Not sure why..

Eliza Dushku: She could be great. She was great in Buffy and even the rather dull Tru Calling. Joss likes her and she has the right look. Whedon has said WB don't nessecarily want a big name or mind an unknown so she's in with a shot..

Monera Baccharin: Plays Inara in Firefly/Serenity (whedon's sci fi tv show/movie). Has an interesting look and is great in Firefly/Serenity and seeing how that is Joss' pet project I wouldn't be shock to see her in the role.

Jessica Alba: She really became something special in Dark Angel season 2 and was very likeable in Honey. She was terrible in Fantastic Four though, and I can't see Joss going for her.

Jennifer Garner: I love her and she could be the perfect Wonder Woman but I can't see her signing on for a big superhero movie after Elektra and with her forthcoming child. Pity because she's a knack for comedy and action that Whedon would love...

Jessica Alba is 10 times the actress Eliza Dushku is and 100 times better looking! Did you not see her in Sin City??? And not to mention everything else she has ever been in?

Em... much as I love Jessica Alba, I thought her performance in Sin City was one of her worst this side of Honey. Since she went blonde, it's like she lost her force of screen presence. Like some wierd, peroxide Samson. Whereas Eliza Dushku has a noted tendency to just... own... any scene she's in.

Having said that... I wouldn't personally go for Dushku. For one thing, Joss Whedon (And for whoever asked, yes, he's definitely writing it) has killed any rumours he'll be casting an actress he's worked with already. For another, I just don't think Dushku, as tremendous as she is, has that Amazonian Build, besides which, I just can't imagine her going for a role as straightforward as Wonderwoman. She tends to pick characters with a bit more bite.

Evangeline Lilly never would have ocurred to me, but I can see where you're coming from now. Maybe, but again, and she's a great actress, but I don't think she's got that... umm... Lucy Lawless/ Lynda Carter quality. You know, that "HOLY CRAP!!!! EVANGELINE LILLY IS ON THE SCREEN NOW!!! STEP ASIDE, LESSER MORTALS!!!" kinda vibe. That's what makes her so perfect for Kate, that she's not obtrusive, but I'm inclined to think she's just a little too... delicate looking for WW.

I reckon Angelina Jolie might just be distracting in the lead role (she's distracting in any role) and Kate Beckinsale's presence in a film is generally considered a terrible omen of doom. She's not a bad actress, she's just terribly bad luck.

I'm inclined to lean towards Monera Baccharin, or maybe Rachel Weiss, or even better, that evil chick from Mummy Returns. You know, she was painted gold? About 8 foot tall and unidentifiably exotic? Knows her way around a sai?

That's the name that kept coming in to my head whenever I see this thread title. Glad to see someone else agrees.

Sandra Bullock would look the part but I don't think, in acting terms, she'd carry it off.

Actually Rachel Bilson (Summer from the OC) isn't someone you should rule out. She's easily the most likeable OC actor, with a tongue cheek, enjoyable screwball quality about her that could adapt quite well with a whedon script (he says having no clue of the actual script :p ). Plus she managed to do the outfit justice in season 1 of the OC, as the cap above proves.
Evangeline Lilly isn't a bad choice either but I agree with Jill Valentine's points about her.
It's a tough one but one thing that's occured to me about this film that I haven't seen pointed out is that it could be a really hard sell. WW is considered such a corny character by many and though Buffy has a great following (myself included) alot of people see it as chessy etc. I think the marketing people are going to have a hard time convincing people to see this film in comparison with other superheros like Batman etc who have built in "cool" factor.

Em... much as I love Jessica Alba, I thought her performance in Sin City was one of her worst this side of Honey. Since she went blonde, it's like she lost her force of screen presence. Like some wierd, peroxide Samson.

She wasn't bad in Dark Angel, but she hasn't been good in anything else I've ever seen, so I think you may have sussed her problem.
For one thing, Joss Whedon (And for whoever asked, yes, he's definitely writing it) has killed any rumours he'll be casting an actress he's worked with already.

Of course he has worked with Monera on Firefly, though she would be pretty good in the role.

After reading this thread Eveangelina Lilly would be my first choice. She has the right look, the talent and I think she would draw in an audience.

That said I think having Joss writing it will bring in the bulk of viewers, if he wasn't writing it I wouldn't bother with it until it got to dvd. I just wish he was doing X3 now that Singer is doing Superman.

Let's not beat about the bush here. This film won't be winning any Oscars or anything so my choices for the lead are based solely on looks, not acting ability. My choices being Jessica Alba, Kelly Brook, Beyonce and Jennifer Love Hewitt. Brunettes - yum!..... :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 272 ✭✭Rcuomo

what about the hot chick from smallville,
kristin kreuk...she definitely has the looks and the body
maybe a little too young though...i suppose it depends on which way whedon is doing it from, maybe he'll want a young actress to do an origin story or whatever...

She's got the Jamie Lee Curtis seal of approval, that's good enough for me. Cuz Jamie Lee Curtis... she's like... an earl or something.

I think she was able to grow into the role. I remember thinking she was pretty crap in season 1 but by season 2 she really seemed to get Max. I thought she was great especially in episodes like Borrowed Time and Freak Nation.
