Does anyone know the schedule for the Pixies concert, like what bands'll be on at what time? Also, if I wanted to get a good place(at the very front if possible) when should I go? like what time do gates open at?

Hrm. I am meant to go to this gig. Though, I could go to Lord of the Dance with my Nana instead, for her birthday. Decisions Decisions.

Whats the deal.... Is their actually going to be a pit at the next 2 Bud gigs?

I was a bit annoyed that their wasnt one in Marley.

On the radio...or tv?...it said that gates were at 14.30, but on the ticket it said 16.00.

Why exactly? its much better with no pit, that way early kings of leon fans can be up the front for them and us pixies fans can nudge our ways up the front when they come on

Theirs a dart 2mins walk from the gig and it will bring you into the heart of Dublin.

I just prefer a pit tbh

nice one thanks! is it expensive?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,057 ✭✭✭kjt

lol scared the crap outta me. I went to look for my tickets and couldnt find em. They fell down the back of my desk, were freggin hard to get out.

Nope its not expensive. I'd say about €2.50/3 return from town :)

  • So is there going to be a pit here?

    Haha your stooopid.

I am going. Gonna go in for four as well... even tho I am sick.

So obsessed by a pit, if theres none just go and start one!

I heard pixies around 9ish and kings of leon at about 8ish

  • you cant just start a pit! I don't mean a Mosh pit, i mean a dedicated fenced off area where only the people who arrive first and get pit-passes can get into!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 156 ✭✭scion

... who gives a **** about a pit, it's all about meeting people and having a good time

  • well i want to know if going to queue at 2:30 is gonna make a difference to arriving at 6:30!

It makes a lot of sense really.

And actually, it's about the music.

Yup their was a pit. Retarded friend of a friend left their ticket at home and held us up an hour so didnt get in.

Great gig though. The pixies were far better then their last time!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,794 ✭✭✭JC 2K3

Totally, they were brilliant, absolutely flawless, WOW!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,057 ✭✭✭kjt

Umm glad I took a vid/2 of em. Damn the 1st 4/5songs straight were perfectly played, what a band.
I havent listened to them in months, forgot how good they are.

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 4,436 Mod ✭✭✭✭Suaimhneach

what about kings of leon, were they any good? I even knew i would be but I'm raging i didnt go now, just pure laziness on my behalf.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,080 ✭✭✭✭Tusky

faaaaantastic. Way better than last year. Brilliant. wow. deadly.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 442 ✭✭seanironmaiden

un-be-f*cking-leivable!! And they played PLANET OF SOUND!!!!! that was great. plus Kim got hit by the big wave of mutilation, that was funny. Gigantic got the biggest reaction of the gig, I'm sure Charles loved that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,095 ✭✭✭Beau

Thought they were better lst year to be honest. But I`m just really tired, have`nt got sleep in a few days.

Did anyone notice that the ticket prices went down from 60 euro to 50 euro! Anyway for the people who paid 60 euro to get the 10 bills back I wonder.

Would love for them to have played a little longer...
I mean they barely took a chance to catch their breaths but still one song for an encore? come on!! milk it baby!!
still yeah they really rocked, nice mellow intro (wave of mutilation-uk surf. i nearly died) I got a cool tshirt with some of the chords and lyrics to bone machine. I might say last year was a wee bit better but they were on top form and i had a fecking brilliant time!

Totally agree, incredible opening few songs that really drew the crowd in. Great night altogether and great to hear Planet Of Sound :)

    wow. seriously, wow.
That was one of the best gigs I've ever been to. I was mesmerised the whole time i was there, totally spellbound.
great start nice and mellow, slowly building up and when they kicked in with where is my mind as the third song... damn. i think i creamed my pants!
thought debaser and I bleed were done very well.

I'd like them to have played a bit longer, was looking forward to hearng U-Mass, Dig for fire and Velouria. But hey, what are ya gonna do?!

didn't think the mix was all that good, would have like to hear kim's voice a bit louder. on that note, why was she dressed for a spot of light gardening?!

KOL were pretty good, better than when i saw them at oxegen last year. but they lacked a bit of passion. middle of the set was fantastic when they played king of the rodeo, soft etc. but the start and end weren't great.

a simply fantastic gig, enjoyed every minute of it.

Anybody know why the Pixies played 'wave of mutilation' twice?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 765 ✭✭✭Smurfpiss

one was uk surf the other was the original. i guess it was to keep fans of both happy. though honestly i would have prefered velouria or la la love you over it again. i absolutely adore the uk surf version. As per usual i went completely bananas for tame!

I can't beleive nobody's mentioned the Kings!

For me, they stole the show!

Totally rocked the place! I loved it!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Did anyone else cop that the lead singer in the Pixies had a plastic cup thrown right at his face?

But carried on! A true professional! :p

Yeh, the sound wasn't the best. Joey's guitar levels weren't high enough a lot of the time from where I was.

    Brilliant performance though!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,328 ✭✭✭✭loyatemu

the sound was rubbish throughout for Pixies and KOL - but what do you expect in a football stadium.

nonetheless - the Pixies rocked - they barely paused between songs, just kept blasting out the "hits".

Kings of Leon also excellent - I loved their drummer who kept blowing bubblegum and looked barely awake while hammering the drums at the same time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,376 ✭✭✭Squirrel

Joey played the guitar lead, how **** cool is that, would've been better louder, but still ****ing amazing

I really dont know how anyone can think that. Kings Of Leon were just an appetizer. Ive seen them live 3 times and they are never great. Rock by numbers and lack that special something when they play live.

i thought it was pretty lackluster all round//
kings were good..but you need a bit of energy to really enjoy them and i felt very post-work tired.
i didint see the the appeal of the pixies. like, im no big fan at all but most people seemed happy to just see them for the sake of seeing them. i was bored.
thought the crowd was dull except for patches of really drunk people.

Bah another pension fund tour, apparently its was Joeys idea to get back together to put his kids thru a better college. And why was Kim dressed like a librarian?

The sound could have been louder even it was wind effected from time to time. The stage got a good old soaking in the middle of the set when a lot of collected rainwater blew off the roof and back onto the stage below. Kim shudda had her old black t-shirt on (like the old days) and kept the boys up front entertained in a spot of wet T-shirt contest!! :p

Joeys guitar playing was spot on, and it was good to hear alot of Surfer Rosa and Doolittle played out again. Black francis can STILL scream. It lacked in atmosphere till the very end, "It's tuesday, it must be Belgium" syndrome again. No crack or words with the audience thoughout, not even a quick "thanks" between songs...not like the old days down then front in the National Stadium with Kim making jokes about belfast and machine guns!!! And Black Francis sweatin on ya!!

Glad at least that I seen the Pixies in the height of the powers in 1989/91.

There ain't many bands that deserve it, they are one of them so you can't begrudge them that. Can't believe they would have made much back the first time round.

Could have sworn I read somewhere recently that there's another album of the way though.

sound was atrocious..i have seen the kings of leon 4 times..and i couldnt hear them this time...i was standing in front of the sound desk too, se the iwnd is the only excuse///
plus the beers, getting the beers was unreal..u might have seen me arguing with the securty guard/event organiser dudes...the worst bar setup ever (bar(sic) electric picnic last year)

The sound was pretty bad, obvious dynamic changes were just weak-sounding.

I've seen Pixies a good few times now and that was my least favourite show; they really need to start doing something new. A few new post-80s numbers would be very nice. The rainwater flying in front of the stage during Wave of Mutilation was the highlight, thought that was intentional for a second.

    Glad people enjoyed it though.

I thought it was a great show. It's not the best ive ever seen, but the band were having fun and so were the crowd. "Here Comes Your Man" and "Gigantic" were highlights. It was my first Pixies show, and i must say i enjoyed it. I was a bit worried during the odd "Wave of Mutilation" opening, but the show picked up from there on...

On that note I actually saw them in Belgium last week. Sound was amazing. Frank Black's scream could be heard from miles away.
