Last time I transferred it was 12 working days but that was most liekly AIB's problem not Neteller's. If you email the neteller support they are very helpful.

I'm having the same problem myself at the moment, I tried to link my Neteller account 2 weeks ago and no small deposit received yet. So I rang Neteller yesterday, and they're making another small deposit today, hopefully that one will come true. But the Customer care is very good I'd give them a ring or e-mail and they'll sort you out.

I have a feeling they're trying to deposit an amount in $ and not € and I don't think our accounts can accept them, however I'll keep you posted.

P.S. Nicky did you have any problems linking your Bank Account with your Neteller account in the first place??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 991 ✭✭✭ZZR1100

I set it up a few months ago and had no problems.

set up my account about a month ago on the optimistic hope of having winnings to cash out! the first time the deposit didn't go through. Apparently you have to give them your bank swift code, even though it isn't required on the form you fill out. Did you give them this? (after i gave them this, it went through within two days)

Had no problems linking my account, transfers just took way longer than they should but Neteller tell me that is AIB's fault. The money isn't supposed to leave my Neteller account until the transfer has been cleared by the target bank but my money always seems to be in limbo for 10 days......not that I will be making any transfers in the near future the way things are going.

I gave them my IBAN number, and apparently thats enough, apparently the problem has been that they were trying to deposit US$ into my Euro account, they've apparently sent yet another deposit (third one by now) yesterday - so fingers crossed.

Must say it's not giving me too much confidence, they're great for transferring money around sites, etc. but I might stick to the cheque route for withdrawal, although I'll withhold judgement til this saga is sorted out.

Has anyone had a similar issue to this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,806 ✭✭✭Lafortezza

I had a slightly similar problem. What you need to do is get your IBAN number from your bank, then it's actually worth ringing the Neteller customer service people, just to give it a kickstart.
If you don't ring them and actually give them the IBAN number then they will *eventually* get back to you and ask for it anyway.

Get proactive people, think outside the box!

    mmmm ...box

Agreed Iafortezza, altough I must admit that the Neteller customer service is brilliant, I've found. I e-mailed them a couple of these problems and within an hour they ring you back and are very helpful.

I made a half arse reply to this in it's actual thread, but without realising it wasn't in the poker forum, :o so now all these Biz heads will be wondering what Bonus whoring is?? :D

    lol

sure it's free to phone them even which is great, the automated answering machine is worth the call alone:D

Great customer service, just confusing as hell about that link in my post above.

Anyone have similar issues with that?

They probably have different buy and sell rates for currerncies which explains the difference.

Just have your neteller account in dollars and then you only get hit when you cash out (unless you also play on some sites in other currnecies in which case you may be hit there too).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,537 ✭✭✭Ste05

Did you just read my post and condense it??

But excellent point about keeping the account in $, except then it'll be hard to link your bank account.

hi, never used it before but i got a quick question or 2 regarding NetTeller:

if i deposit money into my neteller account with a credit card, will it be credited (appear on screen etc) immediatly or would there be a delay?

if i then use it to transer money to, say, pokerstars, how long would it take to credit my pokerstars a/c??
    (i hope that makes sense...)
    Thanks
    Alan

I think I know what you're asking. You're deposit from your Credit Card to Neteller is instantanious. And then you're deposit from Neteller to the Poker Room (UB, Party, etc.) not sure about Stars is also instant.

I did it so I only had to give my credit card details to one company instead of a load of off shore companies. Neteller is regulated by the British equivalent of the FSRA, and I e-mailed the Irish Regulators them about before trying to link my Bank Account, and nothing bad came back.

Hey Divers, just wondering how you got on with your linking Accounts??
Anything to report yet, just wondering cos mine still hasn't come through yet

Cheers, I'll do the same, if I figure out what the problem was.

They seem to be having a few problems with the European bank transfers. Originally they told me that their software had a few bugs in it, but this was a while ago.

The initial test (about 2 months ago) took a little over a week.
First transfer took about 5 days.
Second transfer took about 40 days, 3 sessions of online chat and 5 emails.

They never really told me what the hold up was. When you request a transfer (at the time, anyway - about a month and a half ago), somebody has to manually give it the go ahead. About two weeks in they told me that something had gone wrong with this, but the tranfer should now go ahead. That was the last interesting information I got from them until the money arrived three to four weeks later. During this time the money wasn't in my Neteller account.

    My bank is AIB.

That's not too encouraging to say the least, still no sign of the micro deposit. I'm getting a little worried about them now. Might not use them to cash out in future.

Nicky have you had any of these problems at all??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,047 ✭✭✭Culchie

My micro deposit came through in two days or so.

I've made a withdrawal 5 mins ago, so will let you know how long it takes to hit the bank account.

Neteller is based in Isle of Man as well, so can't see any reason for problems with European transfers.

What bank are you with - I'm Ulster Bank, all the problems people talk about seem to be with AIB

I just registered my AIB account now. I started the procedure on Thurs 18th and the microdeposit arrived today. I put in the IBAN and the BIC code.

If anyone else has problem registering you can lodge money to my account if you like :p

    I just received my micro-deposit.
Gonna log in later and confirm it online. Will try transferring €20 to party poker and see how it goes.

Yippee - finally got it all sorted. :)

A word of advice to anyone trying to link their accounts -

    1. If you intend withdrawing to your bank account, make sure that your Neteller account is in Euro

    2. If you intend using cheques to withdraw or you're only using Neteller to transfer money around different sites I'd have it in US$ you won't lose out on currency changes when you are transferring money around different sites.

    3. If you are regestering your Bank Account with Neteller, make sure they are making a micro deposit in EURO and not US$. Give them your IBAN number AND your Swift number (you can get this by ringing your bank), also have ready if they ask for it your BIC number (pretty much just your Sort Code) and account number. (These are all errors I found while I was trying to link my account)

    4. If your micro deposit hasn't come through in 3 working days ring their Customer Help on 00800 77676343. I found them very helpful.

    5. The next stage now is to try a withdrawal - so fingers Crossed!!! :D

    Why?

When setting up the bank account you can specify the currency of the account. I (up to now) only use Neteller to transfer money between poker accounts so therefore I have my account in dollars. The odd withdrawal will get hit with currency charges but having the account in dollars makes a lot more sense if using it to fund poker accounts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,537 ✭✭✭Ste05

I checked with Neteller and they told me that you actually can Link Accounts with different currencies, your Bank Account just has to be the same currency as where you reside. So Scratch my point 1 above and I would now strongly suggest keeping the Neteller account in US$.

can you change your neteller account from euro to dollar?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,047 ✭✭✭Culchie

Nope, you have to set another one up.

I have a Euro one as well, set up before I heard some boardsters advising to set one up in dollars.

However, I seem to be getting a very fair exchange rate when moving funds, so I've no complaints about having a Euro account either.

I will set up another one in dollars if I am persuaded it is the right thing to do.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,844 ✭✭✭✭cormie

    Hey Marq, long time!

Anyway, no you can't, you have to set up a new account in USD. It takes a bit of time (20 mins?) but Neteller are a pleasure to work with and get you sorted no problem:) Their live chat is very handy and their number is freephone. No hassle at all really.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,886 ✭✭✭Marq

Cheers for the advice Cormie. NeTeller are the friendliest people on the internet. I used the live chat and got the whole thing sorted in a matter of minutes. to change the currency, I do have to set up a new account, but I don't have to reregister the bank details and once I close the old account I can use the new one with the old email addy.

The micro deposit came through today but I'm wondering how I get the money to Neteller. I'm using AIB's phone and internet banking facilities. I rang them up (AIB) and they said it cost's $20 euro to make a transfer to an Isle of man based company and I need to provide them with lots of details. Surely it's alot simpler than this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,806 ✭✭✭Lafortezza

I think I made a mistake in one of my other posts re Neteller, I had thought that you could EFT from your irish bank account to your Neteller a/c for some reason.
I logged into Neteller again and realised my mistake.

When I log into Neteller there's two options to lodge money. Credit card transfer which is instant, or Wire transfer which is awkward and takes about 5 days. The wire transfer requires you to go into your bank and fill in forms so the credit card transfer is the easier option.

Anyone know if it is possible at all to lodge money from your bank a/c to neteller by Electronic Funds Transfer?

Received 25th August .... so on the 3rd working day you receive the funds, which is grand :)
