Excess weight around midriff

    Hey,
Dunno if this is the right place to post.....
I am fairly happy with my body in general but I seem to carry an unusual amount of fat on the both sides of my midriff - just above my hips. It is out of proportion to the rest of my body and makes clothes look awkward! I don't understand where it came from but one possiblity is I have surgery in Sept on my stomach. I didn't have this problem as prominent before and I've tried many excercises to help but they don't work - in fact, it seems to be getting worse!!
I'm also on the pill .......... if that is in any way linked?

excercises wont do much. If fat. So sit ups wont make a difference. Diet is the main thing. And running or cardio excercise.

If it started the same time as you taking the pill that oculd be it, i know some girls get bigger tits. Maybe you have just been unlucky and gotten bigger hips.

Surgery should be your very, very, VERY last option! Try everything possible first. Talk to instructors in your gym, they should be able to help you out on what excercise might help.

I think Clarebear misunderstood you and thought you were going to have surgery in September.

She's not the only one that made that mistake, I thought it too.

    me three!
first post made it sound like she was planning surgery for the issue in sep.
friend of mine had similar issues with the pill, put on weight when she started on it. Think she tried a different variant and it helped and also she started working out like crazy.
must ask her what was the end result and she is pretty feckin skinny...

The pill affects women in different ways. Some don't put on any weight, some gain a bit, some gain a lot and some even lose weight. It's very easy to blame the pill for weight gain. If you really think that might be the cause try switching to another type. It might suit you better.
