Just bought the game and have a NE Hunter on the Bladefist server.

Kick ass game though... People are very newbie friendly, in EQ when I started I got very little help. WoW seems to have a different vibe though.

bladefist is great (not the server itself, piece of crap) but nice people there, who will help out quite often. and yay, another alliance boardsie. most seem to be horde

There is lot's of alliance Irish players on bladefist too. Unfortunetly the all Irish guild Dudes is gone but we are all still knocking about in other guilds except the odd traitor who is gone horde. Horde scum :P

Um, everyone on a PVP server is a ganker. The only time I don't gank someone is when they're a fair few levels below me. I find the majority of the time I leave an ally off a ganking he's back over to me the minute I aggro a mob.

and this is the exact same thing that happens alliance.

the same thing happens both sides. alliance start ganking low lvl horde, so once those low lvl horde are high lvl, they want revenge, so they gank some alliance lowbies. these guys in turn gank once they get to high lvl.

i wont kill horde if they are grey honour (unless they are attacking other alliance) for the simple fact that i hate getting ganked by ?? horde, and i dont want to make other people get that annoyed, especially when i get nothing from it.

ganking I have no problem with, esp in a game like WoW where the penalty is insignificant and where there is always the option of playing on PvE servers where one is immune to ganking.

But ganking is also ultimately boring. It's fun initially but I found it got tiresome pretty quickly as there is no real challenge for the ganker. I'd much rather have some good solid team based PvP/RvR that WoW tried and to me failed to provide. Simply don't have time to be waiting in 30-60 minute queues for a 10 minute game of CTF with my guild.

mmm, we got in pretty quick last night Memnoch with a raid group. Hammered the alliance . Died off at about half twelve when no alliance turned up.

had a great game in Warsong yesterday. went on for almost 2hrs, and we only just lost 3-2. got about 110 kills, and was great fun. unfortunatly, it was a very defensive game, which took a bit away from it, but still enjoyed it alot.

but with all the bugs (im a warlock) its bloody hard to do anything now, so im boycotting BG till they are fixed.

Had my first meeting with the Horde tonight.

My raid killed 7 of them...then a level 60 came along (the higher level raiders said he was 60 anyhow. Was just a skull to me)...god knows why he was at that zone...he just was. Raped us into the ground.

Then after all my teammates ran away, he sat by the graveyard waiting for me to spawn. Then he would kill me with a single spell. Then wait, then kill etc. Bear in mind I am level 16. What possible benefit he got for killing me 4 damn times.

Anyway, killed a level 23 all by meself later on...he must have been pissed off.. tee hee. Made up for the caning I got from the 60.

Bloody items only sell back for about a fifth of their value.

Ganking tends to mean most pvp these days.

i try and only use it when you do gank though- as in hop them when they are low from fighting mobs.

My favorite gank was me vs 3 alliance doing the broken alliances (2 level 50 elite dragons) quest. I was 3-4 levels below any of them. I watched them via farsight until they got stuck in, then hopped them. Killed their healer before dying myself. Then watched the other 2 get whupped without their healer, resurrected and killed the warrior as he eventually tried to flee. The mage then got me, but then he got killed by the dragons.

the best bit was when I res'd the 2nd time, 2 of them chased me all the way across badlands right into kargath,. 1 actually came into kargath after me only to run into 35 level 60 succession guildies preparing for a raid.

oh to have been able to hear their party chat.

Do you actually get any honour from killing lower levels??

Some ?? Level Horde Scum Rogue was lying hidden at the Darkshore border into err, to the south bit anyway, cant remember the name.

When I came through he unhid and caned me in one hit. So obviously fairly high level.

Went there a gain later on following some high level Alliance, I stopped to kill a Wolf and got spanged again by him.

if someone is ?? to you , then they get absolutely nothing from it. It drives me crazy when someone does it to me, especially when they camp your corpse. when that's happening you get on the guild chat or local defence channel and ask for help. if they continue to pick on you usually your pleas for help will be answered.

on the reverse side, when you see an enemy and he is grey color coded, you should leave him alone, as when you attack him its the same as when the ?? attacks you.

like in the real world, there are assholes out there who get joy out of pointlessly pissing people off. just try and avoid them where possible.


at your level, you can probably still be questing in the alliance protected zones, which you should do. when you are in there, as long as you dont attack the enemy or heal your side, then they cannot touch you. It is only when you go to contested (yellow coded) zones that its a free for all.

you should all download an addon called opium, which saves the names of all the other players that have killed you. it also lets you add text, so when you see a horde, and put the mouse cursor over them, a message will pop up, saying "ganked while fighting a mob" etc... and if i ever see them again (regardless of lvl), they die.
