One of my old jobs was working in a shop so on slow days Scratch Card sessions where all that ever kept us going :(

Wont 15 and 20-odd euro a few times aswell as many free tickets. You just have to know when to stop.

€115,436,126 !, right, at a glance I could blow the €5,436,126 on holidays \ cars \ bad investments \ hoes \ champagne \ outrageous hairdo's and maybe invest the other €10mil in something to sustain this lavish lifestyle. but that still leaves €100million. The interest alone would accumulate much faster than you could spend it, that guy is gonna have some real problems (I sure hope its a guy otherwise it'd be wasted on a woman buying stupid things like cat sanctuaries etc.).

Depending on who you talk to, $100,000,000 seems to go a long way on a nuclear weapons program. Yes, I'd become the most dangerous b@stard in the whole world.

wouldn't you just love to ring up your bank manager on monday morning tell him to get his ass over to your house and cook you the best breakfast in bed ever and that you want him to do as you want from a change.

    :)

he should give everyone in ireland 28.75, assuming 4 million ppl in ireland

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,264 ✭✭✭✭Hobbes

Or everyone a free scratch card :)

I won 2+1 star last night. So not all bad.

Tbh if I won that much I'd share it around. Start by having a celebration holiday in Hawaii for everyone on boards. :)

It's a major amount of money but I could get through it fairly easily.

2.000,000 to each of my five siblings
    3,000,000 to each of parents
2,000,000 to share amongst my husband's family
1,000,000 to two of my sils
1,000,000 to my seven friends who have always been there for me
3,000,000 shared out between extended family
5,000,000 in trust funds to each of my children

    That's 50,000,000 so far

2,000,000 for a house in Ireland
1,000,000 x 5 for other houses in other countries
5,000,000 running costs for said houses for my lifetime
3,000,000 on cars plus running costs etc
5,000,000 on other forms of transport

    That's 75,000,000 so far

10,000,000 to be spent on putting in place activities, youth programmes etc for children/teenagers in Ireland
10,000,000 towards helping eradicate homelessness in Ireland
10,000,000 to be spent on self help projects in third world countries

    105,000,000 gone to date

    5,000,000 invested for me

    and 5,000,000 on general spends.

Could someone please lend me a fiver. :D

lol, people look jealously i think on the winner, as its not them. i dont think thats the right thing to do, its a very special gift to win 115 million euro, and remember health is the first wealth, if u dont have that u have nothing. and no amount of money will stop age (yet-although 115 million would go some way to researching how to stop it :D:D:D )

It just gave this Limerick woman's name on the RTÉ R1 news at 11...Delores something; I hope she has a very big family to share that out amongst...

I was almost afraid to check my 20 quid ticket this morning...I mean the way that sort of cash would (not could) change your life...
Hope she enjoys it and fair dues to her...I'd be a lot happier with just the 15 million TBH...no kidnap threat (well not as many), no need to bother with a security detail...heck you might even be able to go shopping again in your hometown, within a year.
Who am I kidding? Even with only 15 million I'd be dead in a few years...

she was in a pub when the numbers came out so
she didnt really hide it. http://www.rte.ie/news/2005/0730/lotto.html

Wow, I'm surprised they went public. I'd have stayed quiet as mouse about it, at least outside my family and close friends. And just slowly over time assimilate the wealth into my lifestyle ;)

I mean seriously, security would be a concern for me if it were public knowledge.

If she invested all that money now, she could comfortably ensure that none of her children, or children's children, or children's children's children etc. would ever have to work. With that kind of money, if you're not inclined toward giving it away, you could build a massive fortune over time from interest alone. If you pulled in 10% a year from your investments - which seems reasonable over the long term - you'd be comfortably a billionaire within a couple of decades ;)

She has some interesting decisions ahead of her.

The only consilation to not winning it is the winnings aren't tax free so they winner is going to have to pay 42% of the winnings in capital gains tax.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,227 ✭✭✭✭Sparky

if i was just given 2 mill by the winner im sure the tax man would want 1 mill off me because its classed as a winfall

I dreamt on Thurs night I was picking the numbers for the Euromillions.
I just remembered the 2 lucky stars and the first number the next morning.... and they came up exactly! If only I remembered the rest! That'd would have been seriously freaky...
Ah well, not my time yet.
Doesnt that woman now leap into the Top 100 Rich list for UK/Ireland?
    Crazy amount of money.
Europe must be cursing the luck of the Irish.... as if we havent got enough money from Europe already! :)

I stand corrected, also you just reaffirmed what i've known to be true that the people in the revenue don't know what they're talking about.

On the tax thing...it's tax free lump sum and interest on it is tax free for the first 5 years (apart from DIRT). After that 5 years, the interest is classed as an income and taxed accordingly.
