Public Profiles???

Not sure if this is the correct place to put this but here it is . Why does no1 on these boards fill in there public profile?? What have u got to hide, its not asking u to fill in your credit card number :rolleyes: .

It is a common thing. People don't bother. You'll see the same on other types of boards and things like Yahoo or MSN Messenger, ICQ etc.

It's not that people can't be arsed, theres just not much point. The site's about discussing stuff, not making friends. A profile could cause people to make reservations about someone's opinion too.

I have a look at them now and then. Mostly to see how what sort of age a particular poster is.

I think some people just might not want you to know whether they're a guy or a girl. For example,if you get into a debate with someone on boards,it shouldn't matter if you're a guy or a girl but it might to whoever you're arguing with I suppose.....
In saying that,I obviously don't care who knows I'm female but I just don't see the reason for telling where you're from or what age you are. Age discrimination is a factor too...

Some of the profiles can be quite interesting, others are quite bizarre. Some of the sigs are great though. I can't remember who it was, but someone had as his sig these hilarious transcripts of some guy who was cybering with several women and on one occasion he acts like a pirate and asks the woman to go "Aarggh!" numerous times.

Anyone know the user I'm talking about?

Well for a site like Boards that I visit regularly then I do fill in the profiles. Granted the last time I editted my interests and stuff was about a year a go but at least I made the effort

It's pretty much pointless, as phones develop, new ones have big displays, and u will be able to view full internet pages, thus allowing you to read ur pm's and not needing this alert service.
