i'm doing the whole gradual weight loss thing, but have to go swimming in a few weeks with some friends (who all have perfect bodies  ) and I was wondering if there was any way to lose a lot of fat in the space of about two weeks. Just a temporary detour from the long and boring road to slimness.

Well id suggest getting as much swimming in the few weeks as much as possable before you go with your mates. When i first started swimming on my holidays, i was slow at swimming and out of breath. But doing a bit of swimming in the 2 week period i was able to swim like a fish and hold my breath for much much longer and on the plus side my stomach toned up pretty well too :)

Body weight exercises as well - but to honest sit ups wont do squat if you have bodyfat. It will make your abs harder but since you have the bodyfat it wont show through. But if you do lose a some of bodyfat you can have a bit of tone muscle already there.

All i can suggest is, if you live near a beach,a lake or a centre that has a swimming pool, jog down to either or and have the swim gear with you, when you arrive go for your swim ( personally i find a lake or a pool much easier to swim in ). Thats your bit of cardio done for the day, do what you normally would do, then in the evening do the bodyweight exercises push ups,sit ups.

Thats all the advice i can give you to do this but hope all goes well!

There's no quick fix. Now is when you pay for all those months of having a sloppy diet and not exercising regularly. Hate to put it that way, but it's the truth.

Hopefully you'll use this as motivation to use the next year to get in shape.

So many people want the quick way out which is why crappy programs and teleshopping products sell. There is no substitute for proper training and diet if you want to look good.

So what if your friends are perfect and your fat, theyre not gonna hate you because of it!

Some of us feel self-conscious about things. I have my weaknesses, and I have my reasons for my weaknesses. It's for how comfortable I feel, not whether they'll hate me

I go to a gym, but am wondering if I can burn myself out going there. Like can I do TOO much gymwork during the next two weeks to the point where it's unhealthy?
