    hi,

i've lost a stone in the past month and i want to know what kind of excersize's or machines can i use in the gym in order to help me avoid getting excess skin. can i do anything in particular to tighten me up (as it were)

i still have i'd say at least another 3 stone to lose and i want to deal with having any excess skin as the weight is coming off as opposed to doing it when i have lost it.

has anyone got any ideas for things i could do in the gym or just day to day that would make a difference to me?

    regards,
    dv

I think your pretty much stuck with it, outside of building up muscles to take up the slack. I could be completely off base here, but I thought I read that surgery is pretty much the only alternative.

At least, based on my own experience, major weight loss will be accompanied by excess skin, or folds. Dropped from a max of 19st down to 11.5 over the course of two years or so, now level at around 12.5st.

i would be looking at doing something similar as in dropping from 19 down to about 12-13. did you just build muscle up to take up the slack or what did you do?

Don't know how reputable this site is, but hard to argue with the points the guy makes about "loose skin" imho.

You are dropping the weight too fast. Aim for no more than 2lbs a week. Anything over this and you are losing musle which is the reason the skin becomes loose. Another reason to keep the muscle is that when you diet down to your target weight, you would look "skinny fat" if you didn't have muscle mass.
