I have a usb pen 1.1 and usb 2.0 pen using USB 2.0 port on the pc
    OS RHDEL4 KDE 3.3 KENEL 2.6.9-5

When I insert the usb pen 2.0 the usb pen works I see the drive in the
devices in konquer then I unplug the usb pen, it then disappear from the
devices in konquer which you would expect.
But when I plug the usb pen in again the pen does not work
and all the usb ports lockup..

After rebooting I try my usb pen 1.1 I do the same proceduce
    and it works perfect.

I thought it my be a kenel problem so I updated to kenal 2.6.9-11
    but this is even worse
I plug in my usb 2.0 pen wait a few seconds unplug NOW the whole workstation locks up with the keyboard flashing 2 lights
and I have switch of pc with power button.

anybody know what going on ..

are you just pulling the pen drive out of the usb socket or do you unmount it first?

if there is a USB Drive icon on the desktop (i usually use gnome, don't know about kde) try right clicking on it and selecting Unmount. if theres no icon, try opening a terminal and look for an entry for the pen drive under /media
e.g /media/pendrive , then type "umount /media/pendrive" without the quotes. you may need to be root.

kde show no icon on desktop
It makes no difference if I mount the usb 2.0 drive first then browse files
yes in /media/usbdisk is default in RH
then close konquer then umount usn pen and unplug and then it hangs

As I said early this works fine using USB 1.1 PEN I can unplug and plug in my hearts content with no hangs and it always show up the devices
    and in the fstab.
