Sexual, very sexual indeed.Lets hope it wont be a turn out like In Flames' Soundtrack to your escape, where they totally went nu-metal.

    So?

God forbid one of the best Metal bands today should get the promotion & support they deserve...
If they're not struggling to support their families with a part time job as well as the band they're sell outs right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,579 ✭✭✭Pet

I don't think Opeth are the sort of band that are going to cave to roadrunner's demands. Besides, the Dresden Dolls are on roadrunner, and it hasn't affected their music at all.

    Pet is also happy.

    Average.

I'm really enjoying it, love the unusual (for Opeth at least) vocal melodies in the 1st & 2nd songs & Atonement is really cool, & quite unusual (again, for Opeth).

tis damned good :) well what do you expect from opeth?

According to a Roadrunner spokesperson, OPETH drummer Martin Lopez has not been fired, but rather, went back to Sweden for treatment of a rare blood disorder he's had for most of his life.

Until he returns, the band — currently on the Sounds Of The Underground tour — has enlisted STRAPPING YOUNG LAD drummer Gene Hoglan to fill in for him.

Heard the new one too, meh, I hope it's a grower, big Tool rip off riff in it though :)

yes, image doesn't make the band, but Roadrunner seem to be going for a more.. "friendly?" image

Do you think RR or the photographer suggested one of them take his shoes off - help them shift a few units to the shoeless? :p

Oh god! The Opeth I know and love appear to be dead. They look so dejected. Bring back those blurred shots of them standing in a forest, that's the Opeth image, not sub-NIN moody but well-lit photography.

Martin Lopez looks disturbingly like Head (ex-Korn) there. And Martin no. 2 looks like he's faking some faux black metal or something.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,135 ✭✭✭✭John

He's full time? I knew they got one for the last album but I remember he only played like one gig with them. Well that clears that one up.

There is a riff on Ghosts Of Perdition which is hugely reminiscent of a riff on The Grudge, to the extent where you think to yourself "Hey that's a Tool riff!"

Well I was foolish and missed them last time and thats a huge regret, I'd prefer not to miss them again tbh but any number of things could pop in.

Call it a definate maybe. :)

This album is growing on me a little. I quite like it now.

    Thanks Doc, downloading it now!

I have to say, I really love the new Opeth album. Sounds really fresh altogether, if you know what I mean. Deliverance really sounded very stale, it sounded like they were just going through the numbers, whereas Ghost Reveries seems to have really added to the sound altogether.

yeah, they're playing Brummie (Birmingham) on September 13th, and tickets are around £12 or £13 I think, and there was talk of them coming over here while they're at it!
