it's not really THAT warm is it? I wish it was like this every day for the summer. there's a cool breeze, I'm in Dublin. I've already heard people complaining about the warm weather. You should really try and appreciate it while it's here, go to the beach and swim or something, was in the water at clontarf yesterday, perfect temperature!

    Lovely air con in here.

Went outside a few times, I don't want to "keep cool" on a day like today, should be outside keeping it hot, hot, hot.

Bottle of Baby-oil all over the skin, and watch the tan coming up. Hell yeah.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

My office is a tiny 5 foot by 5 foot concrete room with a big window on one side that catches the sun perfectly... It can get pretty hot in here.

So... I have my office door wide open and I have a floor standing electric fan in the main open area outside my office running in sweeping mode, but I have the fan positioned in such a way that it's sweep favours blowing cool air in through my door.

Also I'm wearing a crappy old shirt with the elbows ripped on it. This increases the airflow around my body...

Air conditioning in the office, two extra fans going, chilled water dispenser on location.

    Yepppp.....life is good.

Some of the girls here even complained it was a little chilly.

    Using Golly bars creatively. *ahem*

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,790 ✭✭✭cornbb

I'm loving this heat! Plenty of air conditioning in the office, keeping cool in the car by sticking my tongue out the window.

    (Not really)

Enjoy it while it lasts folks!

Hmm, I don't know where you work but there is no cool breeze in this office! It's warmer in here than it is outdoors. With 12 people in the same open plan office it is often too warm in winter with no heating on so you can imagine how hot it gets with this weather.

And I do appreciate the warm weather, just not when I have to sit in this sauna office 8.5 hours a day :-(

I'm in a 8 x 8 office in the interior of the building with no air conditioning & no windows ... it's like a sauna ... even the fan is blowing hot air around :(

I used to work in an 8x4 foot office. It had no windows either which is horrible.

It did have a nice air conditioner though...

    I want one of these.
But I have to make do with meh 16" fan.
    Soon air conditioning unit... soon.
By the way, has anyone tried something like that ^?
I've only experienced the huge ones they have in shops, and A/C in cars.... not sure about these ones tbh.

I honestly feel like I cant work anymore...the brain isnt functioning any more. The worst thing is that ive got two windows in my office, but they cant be opened!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,399 ✭✭✭kluivert

running cold water over your rists helps to cool you down but you get warm again as your only cooling a certain part of the bloody flow but its a good quick realise from the heat.

You could "accidentally" break one of them...
"Yeah, sorry about that, the filing cabinet just fell over... I was just sitting here, it was the darnest thing!"

    Roffle!!

You could also say that a load of midgets ran into your office & chucked it through the window ... when they say you're mad, say that you're hallucinating because of the heat!

I'd use it, but I don't even think a million midgets could chuck a filing cabinet through 3 solid brick walls ... might try & hallucinate it though :D

yeah, expectin' the icecreams any minute now .. I was tellin my aunt about these little perks in the working world today ... she couldn't believe it ... I was like, ah yeah, loads of offices do that nowadays. So enjoy your icecreams!
As for the heat, it's a hot one alright ! Fan on, window open, drinkin' water, still hot ... plus side is, doesn't look like there's alot of work getting done, because as Sammyjo says, concentration levels affected. V quiet in here, dead infact, hey, we'll be outta here soon enough catchin' rays, and better off at this time of the day, not so much risk of sunburn ... enjoy all ! :)

if you have access to a fridge with a freezer put a cup of fruit juice in it in the morning leave it in there till about 3 and when you drink/eat it it will cool you down so much you'll have to put a coat on.
you might need a spoon to eat it
you might get funny looks ,who cares

I don't have to keep cool, it's just started raining here (in Kerry), Expect it to spread across the country by tonight early tommorow. I am going to invest in an Air-con system for my pad though, it was very bad yesterday and this morning was terrible too. we wait all year for it to heat up only so we can cool down again !

plenty of cider keeps me cool ;)

What I did was open all the windows in the office I was based in today, moved to a shaded desk and appropriated a few fans when the oppurtunity arose and created a lovely cross-draught permitting me to work in a cool and enjoyable enviroment.
