Ugh, why must women go nattering away about things they really shouldn't?! There's this girl I've been kind of attracted to, nothing serious now, she has a boyfriend already and all that. I sent her a rose on Valentine's Day in a half jokey sort of way and she was chuffed enough with that but nothing really came of it. It was also my bad luck that the boyfriend in question managed to forget about Valentine's Day or something, anyway, he got her nothing as far as I understand. Now she recently got herself a job where I work and promptly went and told one of the other girls who works with me (whom she barely even knows I might add, she just met her) how I fancied her! According to her she "only told the other girl that I sent her a rose" but how would that come up in a conversation on how she knows me?! Needless to say it spread like wildfire among all the girls I work with and now I have them all taking me aside and giving me their "advice", opinions and "here's what you should do..." speeches. Needless to say I'm not best pleased.... Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing? Girls, what do you have to say for yourselves?!

I guess, just play it off as if it was joke, and try not to take it too seriously. It'll blow over in no time, people will gossip and talk in an office and get bored of something after 2 days.

My only other advice is to not turn into yet another internet jerk who will use this as a reason to say "All woman are x"
(where x=evil, whoreish, slutty, mean, stupid, whatever)

How f***ing stupid are people that they need to turn their greivance against a specific person into a schoolyard boys vs. girls dispute. Can they not grasp the concept that everybody is different?

sorry about the rant but i just finished reading a thread with more sweeping generalizations about race ,gender and ethnicity than i have seen congregated in a long while and although it was quite amusing in parts it also annoyed me a lot

sorry about the rant but i just finished reading a thread with more sweeping generalizations about race ,gender and ethnicity than i have seen congregated in a long while and although it was quite amusing in parts it also annoyed me a lot

OK, I don't mean to make generalisations, I also know that there are girls who do know when not to say anything, but in my experience they like to just go nattering away about all sorts of things that are either none of their business or totally irrelevant to a given situation. I mean, instead of answering "How do you know him?" with "He's a friend from college (who actually went out of his way to help get me the job in the first place)" she says "He sent me a rose back in February. He fancies me?!" Even the part in brackets above is too much information in my book but where did what she actually said have any relevance at all? As it is it backfired a little cos a few of them now think she's a bit up herself for having come out with this.

It was deliberately obvious. Still don't get why she'd go telling a bunch of total strangers though. Besides, I regularly get cards for female friends on Valentine's Day to whom I have no attraction at all, and they know this well. As I said the rose was deliberately obvious, but still...

It was my intention to be obvious. She is still with the boyfriend (who lives overseas by the way) and up until yesterday I was still mildly attracted to her, but now due to her needless chattering I'm not so sure. A small aside, the affections weren't all one way. She has done a little flirting with me as well, only she decided to limit this to when I had a girlfriend.

Doubt it *Page*. I never made any advances good, bad, or indifferent since the rose thing - at least not intentionally. Also, if she wanted me to leave her alone, why has she come to the cinema, pub etc. with me, as in just us two? Also why would she apply for a new job with the same company as me? Yeah. It did kind of backfire on her alright. The other girls now think she's a bit conceited for having mentioned that at all.

Itll die off fairly quickly though.I used to work in a clothes shop in town so obviously there was a fair mix of lads and girls.Every week there'd be a different story flying around.They only ever last a day or two and if theres no more developments with you and the girl theyll soon get fed up with it.

well this can happen..

I worked with this girl and she went around to all the girls and told them about all the "little things" this guy that worked with us did for her. she got a really good sympathy vote going too was really funny! i didnt believe a word of it because i knew him out side of work and things with her werent like that. but none of the girls in work went near him after that!

Hmm, well there's one flaw in that... I don't have a girlfriend right now and the other girls working with me know this. Also it could have been a lot worse, she was only posted with a couple of other girls, and although it spread once everyone was off duty and hence had access to one another, it could have been a lot worse, and she knows better than to be holding personal conversations over the radio net.

I'm beginning to wonder if you're right there... The very first girl she told all this to was the one who has been very obviously flirting with me recently. Like we could all be walking or standing together in a group and this girl always manages to be at my elbow... That and other things... Christ what a head-fúck! This could be worse than I thought...
