    Hi,

Recently bought a 50kg barbell/dumbbell set and am looking suggestions for some type of training session. I play football 3 times a week so am hoping to use the weights on the side to improve my overall strength with 2-3 workouts a week lasting I suppose around an hour. Im 26,male and reasonable fit, if anyone has any ideas or good websites, please reply.

    All the best,
    Eoghan

You can do quite a lot with just a barbell and dumbbells. Check out
    http://www.exrx.net/Lists/Directory.html

There's a good list of exercises there. Many of them don't require any other equipment other than a barbell/dumbbell. Eg deadlift, military press, bent over row, bicep curl, hack squat etc. When starting off, be EXTREMELY careful with form, use a very light weight and warm up well.

Check out some of the previous posts in the forum for ideas on how to split up the exercises over 3 days and how many sets/reps to aim for

After you are traning for a while, you'll find that 50 kg is too light for certain exercises. You'll need to purchase a few extra plates, Argos do 2 x 10 kg plates for 22 quid which is good value.
