    you guyz a crazy!

    Although I do like winter sometimes, think of the bad stuff - loads of clothes on walking in and out of buildings going from too hot to too cold, having a colde, having sniffles. Having cold toes, christmas and spending way too much money. Queueing for taxis after a night out in the rain or just plain old freezing cold, you dont see many mini skirts, your days off finish at 4pm cos its too dark to do anything else.
    If your an outdoor person, everything sucks in hailstones or when the ground is waterlogged. The water (sea or river) is freezing cold, chapped lips, having to clean out the fire when you get home, making your way from bed to the shower is a nightmare in the morning, you need three towels to cover yourself, during the shower, whatever part of you that isnt being hit by the water is freezing - you do an indian rain dance making noises like ho he ha who har aghhh.

    Who misses winter, man even the though of waking up and its still dark and everyone has a pissy moany look on there face. And you barely ever get to wear sun glass's - the second best invention ever.(the first being the mini skirt)

    Good to hear im not alone on this one!!

    while i do love wearing skirts and tshirts without jackets and i can live in flipflops...i love when it gets dark early, and everyone is wrapped up in jackets drinking mochas. if in our summers it got dark around eight o clock then id be much happier in summer! i like waking up in the dark and going asleep in the dark!

    Why be wishing the summer away ?? Get out and enjoy it, the winter will be along soon enough again. Do things that you can't do in winter and then you'll appreciate the long warm (ish!) evenings ..

    Go for a walk at 10.30pm along the seafront ..
    Sit out in your back garden/ balcony ... on a saturday morn, with croissants and freshly brewed coffee ...
    Head off for the whole of Sunday (if you can) .. picnic in tow .. walk to a view, savour the view ...
    Swim in the sea ... it's still freezing in summer, but do it! Life affirming ...

    I love a turf fire, the sound of wind and rain, woolly jumpers etc. too .. but let's face it, there's f all to do of an evening in wintertime, except watch tv !

    No way, winter sucks donkey balls. Even MORE rain, wind and general misery? No thanks.

    Winters a much better season! :) I don't like the heat, even find our summer weather unbearably hot! Autumn and Spring aren't too bad, but they flucuate from one extreme to the other too much!

    Winter > *

    Sure come winter you'll probably be moaning that it's too cold.

    Can't wait for November... when I'll be enjoying summer part two in South America.

    I love terrible weather. Better surf :P

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,424 ✭✭✭joejoem

    Thats what I was thinking but I was in Lahinch about two weeks ago and I got great surf. I find the surf (when it happens) in summer is alot more controlled, less spontanious, and easier to do tricks on

    Meh I just wish it we had proper seasons

    i.e Winter=snow
    Spring= warm sunshine,less bloody rain
    Summer=hot,sunny,clear skies
    Autumn=Coloured-y leaves,cool refreshing weather

    We only have 2 seasons June and Winter as Billy Connolly once said (although he was talkin about Norway it still sounds suspiciously like Ireland)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,922 ✭✭✭Dave

    The thought of winter arriving is nearly depressing. Not seeing daylight for a few months can't be good. I'm up at half six every morning, home after five, and I work indoors. Summer can't stay long enough.

    Winter's the one for me as well. I can't stand the stereotype that everyone likes sun, simply not true. Give me a light drizzle over soaring temperatures any day of the week.

    Typical Irish. In Winter they give out about the rain and want it to be sunny an dthen when it it sunny (sometimes) they say its too hot and want Winter back. Make up yer mind god damn it!

    Maybe there's a location-based genetic flaw in those of us who like sunny weather and temperatures in the mid to high twenties. Those who prefer the iron grey skies, high winds and piddly rain certainly are in the right place. ;)

    I wouldn't mind that, but no, we have bloody stupid weather.

    i was just thinking that today, i prefer when its darker for longer. maybe i'm vampire or something..that would probably explain my irresistible urge to drain the blood from virgins every night...

    I dont mind winter as long it doesnt last all year round, like in Ireland.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,678 ✭✭✭Selik

    Haha you guys should come to Sydney... Best of both worlds, it gets dark everyday here right now by 6pm everyday (it's middle of winter) and the temperature ranges between 10 degress and 24 degrees. The only time it's really chilly is at night and when the sun's out (most of the time) it's generally the equivalent of a nice sunny summer's day in Ireland! :cool:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,225 ✭✭✭JackKelly

    I love both seasons. In summer i look foward to the cold early nights, while in winter i look foward to the long summer evenings. Enjoy both as they happen though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,688 ✭✭✭grimloch

    I can understand people disliking the Summer when it's humid, but jesus, we don't get much good weather in this country and I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts. Not being able to walk round in a T-shirt at 11 and getting drenched on a more than regular basis? No thanks.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 185 ✭✭Feenikusu

    I don't want winter again...the last winter was soooo long and cold and snowy and everything...no, thanks.
    But still I want summer to be over, it's way too hot and I think it will get even warmer!
    I want autumn! Autumn rules, not too hot, not too cold, and with nice colours.

    No, in my job I prefer longer days and warmer climate.

    I much prefer autumn and winter to spring and summer. I like darker colours, clothes that cover you and keep you warm, coats, scarves. Dark evenings, feeling all warm and wrapped up when it's cold.
    You have to admit that people dress better in colder weather. I don't like the flip flop look. So casual.
    I much prefer to drink a hot chocolate than have an ice cream. I like to be able to wear boots and for them not to stick to your legs!
    What's nice about Ireland is that it's never that cold anyway, just cool.
    Summer's grand for a while but I get sick of it. It just makes everyone sticky and hot. Yuck

    I would hardly call 2 degrees "cool" I'm not at all looking forward to February when I have to have a t-shirt, shirt, 2 hoodies and a coat on my way to school as I at times have been forced to do.

    Here I am in a t-shirt with the window open hopefully having some nice weather for work tomorrow. the only time I intend on getting unnecessarily wet for the direct future is when I go on holidays to the beach.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,254 ✭✭✭Citizen_Erased

    Nah, I like summer , great for the beach. But i still go in winter , but its colder but the waves are bigger. Agh , I dont know.

    Agreed - Winter is so much nicer, I just wish we'd get snow on a regular basis over here *sigh*. I prefer the dark evenings and windy/rainy nights instead of humid stuffy summer weather. Oh, and hayfever is waaaaay worse than a little winter cold!

    It's definitely more fun to dress for winter weather, colours are less garish for one. I'm gonna make myself a hot chocolate now. :)

    I sense the typical " Irish moan " happening here. Why do we complain so much though... ahh it's too hot, i wish it would rain... ahh it's raining, would the sun ever come out... just take it as it's given, yes it's bright in the night, and i live facing where the sun begins to rise so i know it's starting to get bright around 3:45am.. i don't care though :)
