how much protein in....

    hey diet always say for you to tak a certain amount of protein usually given in grammes im just curious how much protein is in thinkc like chicken and stak etc?

    It's normally on the packets, but the US nutrition association ( dunno the name of it off hand) has a website with all the values. Chicken is generally 28g/100g protein, steak 23 (depends on cut though) etc etc. One thing to note however, is the difference between primary and secondary protein sources.

    On a packet of rice you'll see about 12g protein per 100g. This is not usable as a protein like that in chicken - it is incomplete and lacks a full amino acid profile. However, you can take a complementary food to make that 12g usable. In the case of rice, kidney beans complement it. I have a supplement by Optimum Nutrition called Liquid Amino that has the full frofile of aminos and peptides which is like a skeleton key for all secondary proteins - dead handy to have with carb meals...

    i always wondered what secondary proteins were! and why they werent as good!

    Yes - grains complement pulses, its a handy code. Hence the near balance of eating beans on toast.
