    Just south of swords.

Get there on the 41 or 33 bus. If driving, head to the airport, but don't actually go in, continue north on the old N1 and turn right at the second set of traffic lights. PCWorld is between the Big B&Q and Atlantic.

PC world opened in waterford about 1 and a half years ago. They did the same thing 3 days of specials. But what you should know is they only have so many specials of each a day, as in they might have only 3 video cards of 6600pro so you have to be there early to have a chance of getting what you want.

Also what happend in waterford was lots of people from dublin came down and camped outside PC world over night just so they could get the 5 laptops on special each morning. This happened the 3 days i would say the waterford people did not get much of the real good deals.

I would think people will camp outside pc world tonight!

I really hope not, but I'd well believe it.

Guys, if you could listen for a moment. I REALLY badly need a new chair, the one I have now is awful, if you could see it you'd understand. If anyones thinking of buying like 20 of those leather office chairs, just give a thought to old Dave and put one back. Everytime I sit on this chair, the gas comes out of it and it goes down like 2 inches, really annoying.

The store is already open. I called in at lunchtime today. Wasn't aware of the offers so didn't look our for them.

I was in today. Yer man said that the offers start on tomorrow and they expect campers from tonight, so nothing to be had today :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,269 ✭✭✭DamoKen

typical, live in swords and this is the first I hear of it  . cheers for the heads up, think I may just call in on the way home, could do with one of those leather chairs, my back is in bits from marathon rome total war sessions seated in a rickety ole piece of crap made of reeds of all things :D

This will be the usual 2 or 3 of the special offers each day only but everything else is normal price. "Oh you travelled 20 miles, I'm so sorry, we've just sold out of the specials but I do have this 2 year old machine for 1500 Euro, it's a bargain and it would be a shame to drive all the way home with nothing, wouldn't it? ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,031 ✭✭✭MorningStar

I know what you mean PC world is a trap for people who have never bought a PC before. I have heard the sales guys telling customers that hte couldn't get a better machine for the same price anywhere. It was practically a pentium 1 he was selling

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,632 ✭✭✭✭okidoki987

    pentium 1

And a jolly fine machine it is (was) :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,192 ✭✭✭HungryJoey

Some things are unlimited but things like the PC's are 5 a day and some are 10 a day. The chairs are 5 perday so if u are gonna pop in after work, Id say , no chance. Try pop in before work ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 159 ✭✭BumFluffy

I remember something similar in Galway, they had offers throughout theday' - not- "everything gon by 9:01"; sheer bloody chaos thoughh

As you probably guess most of the staff have an interest in the stuff so....has to be some perk working there i suppose.

Drove down at 8.20, looked like approx 100 (but they seemed tobe handing out tickets to the people at the top of the queue, so maybe the first 50 or so had fecked off for a cuppa)

There's 5 of each offer and each customer is only allowed to buy 1 special offer item is what I was told.

The store has been open for two weeks but tomorrow is the official opening.

Btw, somebody mentioned staff interest in the offers, staff aren't allowed buy the specials.

Apart from the "specials" that will be gone by 9.01am, are there any good deals on PC's there?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 31 Boden

I was in the area last night (Thurs) and drove by at about 1030pm. There were already 15 people queuing. I'd say they were there from the time the shop closed probably 9pm. If you want one of the limited bargains you'll need to do the same tonight or tomorrow night..I'd love the €435 laptop but don't think I could hack queuing all night..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,019 ✭✭✭ct5amr2ig1nfhp

As Lemlon said it was first 5 customers only. (5 of each special). What a joke.

I really think something has to be done about this "limited stock" s**t. I mean come on, 5?

Had a quick look yesterday evening, couldn't see anything that was even reasonably priced.

I showed up about 9:30 and there was a line of about 40 people. After 10 minutes or so waiting, they let us all in. The manager came out thanking us for waiting... Someone asked him when people started queuing and he said 8PM the night before  - he thinks people will start queuing for tomorrows deals at 3PM "judging by past experiences"...

BTW, I left with nothing. I was looking for wireless networking stuff, and the "sale" price didn't interest me tbh.

You're right yeah, we should call our TDs or something...

The leaflet's advertising the specials all clearly said 5 of each only. Its not like anyone was tricked into going along.

Ya i was goin for the laptop too.....drove down at 4am and there was a queue of about 40 or so. Called in this afternoon and was talkin to the asssistant, he said people had been queing form 5pm the previous evening!!!!!! I dont want one that bad!!! I've already lost a nites sleep and a night out because of it and for what......absoulty nothing!

the third person in the Que was for the €20 printer...they hand out tickets, 1 per person. it might have been worth a go standing there...

therecklessone, if you're calling your local TD, let us know how you get on yeah?

Anyway… I didn’t happen to have one of the PC World leaflets and so didn’t know it limited to only 5.

The point I was making was that a lot of stores lately are doing "limited" specials. Harvey Norman is another prime example. No where on the leaflets does it say the quantity of their specials. I happened to be looking for a printer in one of the super “sensational” sales. They had 4 at the sale price but plenty at the regular price.

I’m sure its perfectly legal, but it can be very frustrating.

Whats even more frightening is the seller can at the last minute say no i wont sell any, the price of a good is always a guide and the seller can decide wether or not to sell at that price, of course realistically dunnes are not going to refuse to sell you grapes at $1.99 but they can

goto blanch and pay €240 for a HP2355 or goto Swords and get one for €160. Class printer. ALOT of good deals arent limited to 5 per day. Creative micro for €199, some desktops and laptops etc
