Can you do some exercises that don't need both legs? Bodyweight exercises like one-leg squats, one-leg push-ups, Dips, crunches, bridges etc.

Other than that diet is going to be important to shift the weight.

I don't know much about tendonitis - is it the impact of running on the treadmill that causes the trouble? If so, try doing a low/no impact cardio exercise, like rowing or cross trainer. As outshined said, diet is also critical....

Do exercise under guidance of a physio who can give you optimal exercises which will not make the injury worse.....

trying swimming. SOunds like it hurts when you putting weight on the leg, rather then the movement. Swimming shouldnt cause you any bother.
