I don't mind the front page being beautified up a bit, but it's annoying having to scroll down every time I refresh it.

And it happens that I don't especially like it, because parts of it are useless to me.

I like it for the most part. Feels like there's too much wasted space at the top now though. Lots of empty space in the middle, and above the circular icons on the right. If you were to keep the boards.ie logo on the left, move the people under it into the middle, and then move the circular icons up because each of the three graphics would be roughly the same height then, that might use space better and mean a little less scrolling for people?

There's only empty space for those using > 1024. Try downing your resolution to 800 and see...

I like it a lot, very user friendly, very clean and professional and seamless integration with the actual fora, which I havent seen since the grey front page way back when I started coming here.
