    I'd say so.
They "sold out" the Friday before the Leaving Cert began.
I'd say many exam students (who are a key demographic for the tickets) decided to wait once their exams were over and then get them.
This move makes for extra publicity.
They'll probably wait til after the U2 shows, then maybe trickle some more back...perhaps around 2 weeks before the show to increase publicity before the event.

Then again... they may actually be 100% sold out!!

Just keep yours eyes pealed on the website and on these boards...

It's possible. Then again they've started to announce the dates for some of the bands that are playing their own gig within a month of Oxegen. So that isn't a good sign.

This happened last year, people kept saying there was more tickets going to go on sale, but they didnt release anymore, its going to be the same this year! Oxegen is SOLD OUT and thats it. No more tickets. Its not some marketing ploy to get more publicity......... Jeez, So if anyone has any tickets Ill take a camping............

Last year, did they actually officially announce it was sold out, and then released more tickets? Or was it just that Ticketmaster stopped selling them for a while like they did this year? If it was the former, then it's probably completely sold out now

They have made an official annoucement that it is 100% SOLD OUT and that no more tickets will be going on sale. I'll try find the link.

Oxegen did indeed "sell out" and then go on sale again the next day. A few weeks back, they sold out on a Friday night iirc, a mate of mine went to get his Saturday morning and they were all gone.
However, another friend of mine went to get hers Sunday morning and got it no problem (both were camping tickets btw, camping was sold out on Saturday but miracalously reappeared on the Sunday)
I assume they did this so that when the people who were taking their time to buy a ticket heard of this sudden relaunch of sales they would run to ticketmaster and the tickets would sell out quicker

Ticketbastard and MCD are well used to this kind of trickery. For example, for Snoop Doggs gig in the point last February or thereabouts, they put out the word that Dr Dre was going to be supporting him, and the concert promptly sold the remaining tickets in a day or two.
More canny observers pointed out that Dre was not scheduled to appear at any of Snoops other European dates, and questions were asked as to whether a man who hasnt done a tour in 5 years would really fly all the way from LA to entertain 8000 Irish folks.

Did Dre appear? Did he bollix

And I fail to see how people who couldnt get 140 together for tickets since Christmas (when they went on sale) can now afford to spend the cost of a week in the med for the ticket. Yis had enough time to buy them, tbh anyone without a ticket is a gobsh1te (and yes, that includes my mate who went to buy his on the Saturday, he had plenty of other opportunities to buy it but didnt bother)
And on top of that he also missed out buying a ticket for last year. Some tits never learn

Hmm, I'd take any "official" announcements from ticketmaster with a bit of salt to be honest.
    Remember 2001? a 2nd U2 gig will never happen..
And next week... the 3rd U2 gig that never would happen... and that was official..

I guess we'll know as the weeks go by...

Yes I know, cause that's when and why I bought my ticket, that's why I asked:

They didn't actually announce it was sold out a few weeks ago, they just took tickets off sale for a few days. Whereas now they've actually released an official statement. I'm not saying they won't go on sale as meditraitor says, but does anybody remember if they released more after the official annoucement last year

Keep an eye out on ticketmaster exactly one week before the festival. They released more U2 tickets for their gig next Friday (see post - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=269146) today and the same happened for Weezer exactly one week in advance of their gig a while ago.

I'm glad to see that someone else thinks this. I can't believe the amount of people who can't afford tickets the week before they sell out, but can afford double the price the week after. People without tickets don't deserve them imo.

Last year they started selling entrance armbands at one of the entrances about 1 hour after the start of music.
I think they may have sold their full quota of tickets, probably a figure that was set with all fire and safty regulations in mind. But armbands were definitly on sale.
This may mean the armbands were unofficialy officialy on sale , if that makes sense.
There was a sign above one of the entrances that said 2 day camping tickets available. I'm not sure if this was the organiser selling a few extra place over there legal limit or if simply many people who had tickets didnt show and they were able to sell more armbands to fill the space. (the weather was pretty bad last year)

There was a number of arrests of security people last year for taking the full ticket off customers and then selling them to people while on their breaks, so make sure you get your main part of your ticket back this year, as they are only ment to take the Stub. A member of security was found with over €4000 on him while working taking tickets.

Do they have more tickets held back at the moment? Possibly but probably not major numbers... it would likely erode what they are trying to acheive. Its in the organisers interest to sell Oxegen out as quickly as possible each year. Literally. The economics of it means the sooner theyve the cash in hand the less interest they lose on the money.

As Ive said on these boards before the majority of Oxegen patrons are not on their own income and depend on parents to get tickets. Remember last year they started the "Get an oxegen tickets as a christmas present" lark? You can bet the take up for it this year is going to be hugely increased.

It doesnt help at all there's a lot more touts this year after last years insanity. A lot of more "cunning" people (read scum/parasites(no yes you are)) trying to cover their own ticket costs by selling to others at inflated price.

This is only going to get worse (unless the Prohibition of Ticket Touts Bill passes). I guarantee at this moment there are several cartels of probably pretty normal people planning on pooling resources to buy as many tickets as they can next year to tout them.

Pretty soon you can expect that it could very well be sold out by christmas in a couple of years time. T In the Park Oxegens sister festival in scotland was sold out in 3 days!

The fun thing is come July 9th a LOT of desperate touts will be looking to flog tickets around O'Connell street. Offer them face value and tell em to take it or leave it. Other than that its six months until Oxegen 2006 goes on sale. Start saving. You can bet "others" are.
