I lived in these places, the normal night was the Olympic, then Sides and then the Asylum every Saturday for a couple of years although Sides used to be a gay bar first then just got taken over by straight people but the bar man/girl was kept on till the place closed, it did open again but was never the same full of kids just the the Olympic when it re-opened an other good one was up in Des Kellys in phibsbrough it was deadly closed down as well due to violence...loike all the places even the Asylum closed after the shooting outside by M*n*o M*c*ell on the lads from ballyer, I think now if these places were open the would be deaths every week with all the guns around and these kids now days don't give a flying **** about anyone or what will happen top them.....plus the E now is total crap...long live the rave days of old......

I would agree with you both but it has to be realised like Joe said but the other way round....not if the old Raves were open today but if guns were as freely available back 15 years ago would it have been any different than it is today???......unfortunatley there was even back then two elements to the whole Rave culture, not just the ASYLUM or SIDES but in the OLYMPIC also.....there was all the buzzers who were immersed in what the Rave experience is all about, everyone coming together in one place to create a feeling of Unity & Ecstasy:).......cheesy as it might sound it only is really Ecstatic when everyone is on the same wave lenght & are anticipating & loving the tunes together:D.....then you had the bad side of the whole thing that is inevitable or there would be no Ecstasy taken at the Rave.....the money that is made from the drugs that make the Rave what it is becomes the stage for violence related to money that can be made from the supply:(.....if you stood back & panned around the OLYMPIC, SIDES & no need to look in the ASYLUM you could see the heads there to make money & nothing else.....You would come across them in the middle of the Dancefloor also just barging there way through the crowd thinking they were the crack & you should somehow have to be afraid of emcrossjerk.gif , one sorry fuc.ker thught he was invincible one night until he did that to my mate Richie who put him in his place in two seconds flat if you catch my drift & we went back buzzing the way we always did:p
Unfortunatley i think it has always been there but the availability of guns today shows how ruthless people are in this country........Money/Stature/Image over A Life just is not right:mad:

Often thought about this myself. I think back to when I started going to the Olympic, well before the Asylum was even open and the atmosphere there was something special. It was definitley our Woodstock (not my quote someone said it here before) something brand new. Now there was no coke or bad vibes but I can only remember one set of people who thought they owned the place, the Mitchells. But we were still nieve back then and probably the whole rave scene which initially was new and all that jazz soon got hijacked by greed for profit and 'gear'(heroin). I knew lads from Tymon, Kilnamanagh and Crumlin who talked about this stuff 'Tack' which was great for come downs. Thats was the first of the bad side I seen. After that they'd be skaggin up on the balcony every week. But with 25 punt a pop being paid it was never going to be long before violence and trouble followed:(
I can remember the atmosphere changing around early to mid 94 when the Olympic was heaving with 'new comers' and the first hint of 'The Rasher Brigade'. Wasn't long before the rashers swapped the Olympic for the Asylum only to get it the bogey vibe so many talk about. Que sera sera.......

Fair play to you some serious uploading your doing there KEY;)

Here's a way to download content ultra quick. Instead of getting at files one by one, you can batch download in a few simple steps. Use it to grab as much as you like, really easy to use and saves navigating through various pages to get to the goodies.

#1 - Download the copy of Webdown from here. (File Size = 187kb)
    http://www.mediafire.com/?mlwf0zurmmn
The file is tiny and does not need to be Installed on your machine, you just run it when you want to use it.

#2 - Open Webdown. On the Menubar click "ITEMS" and choose "ADD".
This is to tell Webdown where the files are on-line that you want to get.

#3 - Type OR copy & paste your web address / url in the provided box.
For Example - http://blotterart.info/mp3/ (points to the main directory you want, no need to show .html name)

    #4 - UN-CHECK "Load Images" & "Load Other Servers"
You just want the audio files, no need to get images (even if they are available)

#5 - *IMPORTANT* / CHECK - "Only Download on This Path" and type 1 in the LEVEL box.
You only want the contents of that 'exact' directory / folder you typed, nothing else.

#6 - Click [OK] / Then highlight the webaddress in the main Webdown window.
Webdown now has all the info it needs to retreive the files you asked for.

#7 - Press [F5] to start the download. (or start it from the Menubar)

That's it, Job Done. When the download is finished you will find the files on your main c:\ drive in a brand new folder named 'temp'.
(NOTE : this is NOT the standard 'Temp' Windows / explorer folder buried in your program files directory.)

Webdown will work with most sites, you'll suss after a few uses how to drill down to exactly what you need. *I'd suggest you monitor your first few attempts just to make sure you dont accidentlly download the 'Entire' content of the internet. ;P - BTW, you'll sometimes end up with stuff from a directory that is not linked to from a webpage yet, for instance a site my only show links to maybe 10 mp3 files when infact there maybe hundreds, so use it with extreme caution. Aint This Illegal ? - No, Downloading is not illegal, however copyright infringement is under certain circumstances. For Example, you ARE allowed to create a single back-up (for personal use only) of your purchase to protect your investment. You are NOT allowed to lend, mix, broadcast, upload, download, or play in public (lol at that one) to name a few. So, technicly you would be breaking the law by listening to a radio steam on-line, even tough the radio station has the rights to play / broadcast the music your still 'Downloading' the data - which contains the copyrighted material..., the doors are where the windows should be and the windows are where the doors should be, oh' it's all so confusing.. (Thats a line from an old Asylum Tune, can anyone ID it off hand? )

    Have A Nice Day! :-)

(PS) When you need to Re-Name lots of files quickly use this tool. Re Namer 1.1 http://www.mediafire.com/?jezimgomlxy
TIP : It's easy to use, but best if you practice at first on some files you wont mind messing up. I used it to rename the entire audio content of my rebuzzdefuzz site, all the files names had 'spaces' and I needed to change the spaces to 'Underscores'. It took 8 seconds to rename almost 1000 audio *.WMA files.

I have a software programme called Cool Edit Pro. You plug the headphone or Mic jack (not sure exactly which one) on your PC into 'Line Out' one on your hi-fi tape deck and it records away. I dont know the name of the lead but its one which has the same small jacks (like the earphone jack) at both ends.
Once this is done you have a number of options to clean the hiss etc etc.
I haven't had a chance to master this yet as the bloddy tape deck broke but I'm dying to get some excellent tapes on here which are as rare as hens teeth.
I'm sure the place in town Ro is talking about would do a better job but I wonder what they would think of my collection of 100 or so tapes:D

    Excellent.

When I was getting the Christmas decorations I found a box of my old tapes, all recordings of recordings etc, not much good for on here. But what I did find is a bit of history....

I used to listen to the Sound Crowd Breakfast show on Sunset on Sunday nights all the time, Mr. Fantastic/Tim Hannigan presented it and he used to do a BUZZ chart top 20. Anyway, I still have the tape with the show he did the weekend the Olympic Ballroom closed. He spends the complete show on a big rant about dance music and the link to drugs, closing the Ballroom etc, he goes on and on, it's funny.
He also mentions the giveaway of the 100 free Olympic State EP's by the Sound Crowd - I got one :D did anyone else???

I had the show recorded on two tapes, I've only found one so far, fingers crossed I find the other.

    Cheers,
    Mick

    Cheers,
    Mick

I have a tape with the Sound Crowd doing an interview on Sunset 106 and they bang out a few tunes too. Fairly good it is. Will be one of the first tapes I convert.

Glad to be of service Al. I did put this up a while ago. I used to have a cd with 8 versions of Take Me Away on it which I got in Abbey Discs. Some of the versions were brilliant but some swine snapped the disc on me:eek:

Cheers Seanyboy, This Version is only 2.7mb ,I was looking for one with a better format in sound, more than 128 kbps.
