Check out www.liksang.com for good deals on PSP's.....They're around (~137.89)for the console.
    (~154.44) for the value pack!
Good deals but remember import tax and P&P.

Or €195 & €219 respectively in real money

Although to be fair, tis roughly half the price they were at release.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,010 ✭✭✭besty

    are they not €230?
    i really, really want one...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 529 ✭✭✭Ebonyks

Well going by xe.com you save more than a fiver with the euro price of €195. Not to be nit picky but it saves on the shipping cost.

Also, (just a warning) my brother got his DS from liksang back when it first came out and he was well pleased with it (well still is tbh). A phonecall from DHL the next day quickly wiped the grin of his face when he's told they're coming down to collect a customs charge of around €40. the efficient bastards (Customs)

I got 2 games, a 512 memory card and a USB cable about 2 weeks ago and didnt get taxed. I have heard of the horror storys of people getting splaped with tax..

How do you actually buy it in euro?

And Muff Master how the hell did you get away with tax?

    Bastard!

Dunno Franky, it just came to my door. Just lucky I supose.
Do you have a psp. Savage piece of gear.
Im getting stuck into Tiger woods at the moment. Im waitng patiently for pro evo..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 273 ✭✭philtaylor

Tiger Woods is savage , load time bad , whats your longest drive muff and any holes in one yet.

You said ur waiting on pro evo is that come out on psp as I was looking at getting via now as Gran Turismo has been delayed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,850 ✭✭✭Cianos

Customs tax is done fairly randomly...I got stung for about €100 before  . But one way around it is to get whoever is sending it to write "gift" on the box...they cannot tax for pressies.

Yea Phil, the loading times are a bit lame but its well worth it. My longest drive is 308 yards, i only have my golfers stats up to about 70 %.. Havent hit a hole in one yet but i have chiped in from the fairway a few times now. . .

There is roumers of pro evo coming out just after the european release but thats just speculation.. Its going to be Pro Evo 5 aparantly..

sw0ot the 1.5 exploit has been released. Ya can run a load of emulators on the newer PSPs now. The exploit only works on firmware versions 1.5 and older, not 1.51 or 1.52, so don't update ;)

Not so! Gifts of up to 45 euro are exempt, above this you must pay duty (if applicable) + VAT @ 21%. See http://www.revenue.ie/faqs/faq_cat5.htm

I can point you in the right direction if you want.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,816 ✭✭✭Franky Boy

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,816 ✭✭✭Franky Boy

Are they US or JAPANESE psp's on liksang.com

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,496 ✭✭✭quarryman

can you get liksang to mark it as a gift?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,632 ✭✭✭✭okidoki987

What happens if when DHL come knocking at the door the day after they deliver and you say "Sorry mate that person has emigrated to OZ".
I would have assumed they would take the TAX/VAT at the same time as they deliver it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,951 ✭✭✭fdevine

The majority of packages that are sent via couriers (DHL, UPS, EMS etc.) are checked for contents.

I was done for €80 duty, VAT and charges on an mp3 player a while back and its was marked as a gift!! If its over the duty/VAT limit (€180, I think) and its checked you will be charged upon delivery.

I just got a PSP for €260 through an earlier post in boards, but it was taken down as the guy was deemed a trader.

Its an awesome piece of kit, its really is. Games from LikSang are cheap and are sent from Germany and postage is free.

What games did you get Franky?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,951 ✭✭✭fdevine

You shouldnt worry too much about whether the unit is US or Japanese unless you plan on buying UMD videos. You will need the same step down transformer regardless.

To be honest, who is going to fork out €40 for a UMD movie that you can get for under a tenner?? Not me......

Anyway I presume most of the sites like CD-WOW will be selling Region 1 UMDs, as they currently sell R1 DVDs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,951 ✭✭✭fdevine

    Another thing....

To clarify any confusion about the games not working.....I got a Japanese PSP this week and I have 2 US games. Both games work flawlessly.

If you dont have one yet, dont wait until September.....get one ASAP......

the bet way not to get taxed is just get it posted normal post and not by any courier eg dhl, also ask the company to lower the value of the item.
its a good try but if u get taxed then bad luck.

God the PSP is just sex. Longest dirve in Tiger Woods = 354 yards or so (largely due to an 18mph wind behind it!)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,816 ✭✭✭Franky Boy

Mine is arriving on Monday I am quite the excited person!
For a courier company, do they keep working on the weekends?

How have none of you guys mentioned this place yet?!!

    Video Games Plus

Canadian site but they ship US PSPs. And if you ask him, he will declare it as worth €20. I know theres the risk of insurance but he ships DHL and you'll your PSP in a week with no worry of getting raped by the taxman. Very reliable and very friendly. I got mine at Easter and I got the Gretzky NHL Value Pack and Wipeout delivered for 300. So the PSP value pack, 2 games and shipping included in that price.

And if youre looking for a 1GB MS stick, you cant go wrond with this price!

    Komplett Specials

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,816 ✭✭✭Franky Boy

Hey Evil Savavge there is a deadly price on www.amazon.com for 1gb memory sticks but i'm not sure if they are the right one's!
Anyone know which type you have to get?
