You could always do LCVP for LC. It's not supposed to be too much work, but it's not worth the full 100 points either.

    everyone thinks that.

only 10% of the country actually get an A

It doesnt really matter anyway...its not worth ****.
But it would be nice 2 get an A.
But didnt any1 else thing that question about the politicians was hard?I no it was only 6 marks but still...i only knew mary harney cos my cspe teacher shouted it out as i was going in! But i have an extremely limited knowledge of politicians anyway.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 397 ✭✭Sweetness!

I also thought is was sooo easy. I didn't study anything for it but then who does and plus I already had 60% of the mark :D

There was a question that asked for 2 documents the UN have drawn up to protect human rights. I got wrote the Charter for Human Rights (not sure if it was right) but does anyone know what the other one was?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 549 ✭✭✭Irishstabber

    childrens rights...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 188 ✭✭Strokesa

hmmm yeah i wasnt sure either...
I wrote 'the right to be free from slavery' and 'the right to be free' which are not documents anyway! So what was the answer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 549 ✭✭✭Irishstabber

UNDHR and Declaration of the Rights of the Child is what i said

Didn't have a clue, put down "Anti-aimbot cheetarr skum act 1968" and "Human rights act"....I don't expect to get an A, my project was **** and I didn't really care about the exam.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 122 ✭✭Fenny

I wrote "Charter for Human Rights" too, though I didn't get the second one. I thought the test was really easy, so I'm hoping for a B, anyway.
I do know (after the exam, of course!) that one of them was "Universal Declaration of Human Rights" - at least, I think so. Anyone get both?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 549 ✭✭✭Irishstabber

I put "2 documents the UN have drawn up to protect human rights" in a google ireland search and got "Universal Declaration of Linguistic Rights"...so the UNDHR and that probably answers

Remember the Fairtrade question where part (i) was, "[From the picture] What is the name of the organisation promoting this initiative?" (Answer: Fairtrade) and part (ii) was, "What do Fairtrade guarantee?"? I was laughing my head off!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭PurpleFistMixer

Yeah, I noticed that too. And was tittering to myself.

What's this thing about the UN? Was that an option, 'cause I don't recall answering that question...

Anyway, left after 45 minutes, would have been finished even earlier but I did the Earth Day and spend a reasonable amount of time fixing up my poster. Such a piece of art...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,767 ✭✭✭Hugh Hefner

Yeah, that Earth day poster was fun. My Earth Day poster could kick your Earth Day poster's ass!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,958 ✭✭✭Fobia

I was playing snooker at lunch, and as such forgot to buy colouring pencils or a ruler...so questions 1 and 3 were kind of unavailable to me :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,767 ✭✭✭Hugh Hefner

I just used my pencil. I always do tests in pencil cos' it's much easier to erase. In fact, I don't even like using pens. Too impersonal. I like to feel my writing.

The exams wont be corrected for another month or so, during that time your answer books will be piled up in a warehouse somewhere; pencil is hard to read after a month of being piled up in a warehouse somewhere :)

Dudes , I could not figure out when Anne Frank was born... I had the feeling the answer was right in front of me but I just couldnt get...a well, can you resit a JC?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,767 ✭✭✭Hugh Hefner

It said "Anne Frank was born seventy-six years ago....."

No way, my poster was AWESOME. I mangled loads of countries and destroyed most of western Europe in my picture of the earth!

Ok, now THAT is awesome! Forgot to bring my colouring pencils and I feel there's something missing when you don't have pretty colours ;), so I did Question 2.
Oh, PurpleFistMixer - the U.N. question was question 2 in Section 2. It was all about child labour, I think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭PurpleFistMixer

I didn't have colouring pencils either, but I felt like drawing a poster so I just did that question anyway. If I'd bothered I'd have shaded it with my pencil but eh, didn't think it was necessary. Not an art exam.

And crap, I don't even remember that bit....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,958 ✭✭✭Fobia

It was the last question on the Anne Frank piece afair. I aint exactly an artist (well, not a "manual" artist anyway) so my picture would have likely been a bad circle with Earth written in it...

I think that might've been the answer, the children's one sounds familiar.

That was an extremly easy question , surely you at least know Bertie is the leader of Fianna Fail .

Im not sure how well my project thing will do but my written exam is definetly an A .

A's aren't that widespread. only a certain % of people in the country can get an A. A's in the mocks mean ****e, those are being corrected by non state examiners. They have no quota

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭PurpleFistMixer

Why the HELL do they have a quota of As?
Do they not want people to excell? o.O

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 549 ✭✭✭Irishstabber

    WTF a quota?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18 Who, me?

 So, what happens if you get an A but it's over the quota? They mark you down, or something?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,958 ✭✭✭Fobia

It's a curve...you take a 100 people, 10 will be very smart, 20 moderately smart, 20 stupid etc etc. This is done on a nationwide basis with the JC and LC, the reason being that if an exam is too easy or too hard it shouldn't affect how good people do, as a certain amount of people have to get A's and a certain amount of people have to get D's.

However I'm not sure if this applies to CSPE because a) it's a common level, b) even teachers will tell you it doesn't matter and most importantly d) how many people get D's in CSPE? :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 122 ✭✭Fenny

Interesting. But say, in a core subject, if a number of people over the quota get A's, will it be marked harder or something? (and, I suppose, does the same apply if there are too many people under the quota?)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,958 ✭✭✭Fobia

That's the idea, if you "deserved" to get 87% but too many other people got 90% you could drop down to a B, and if you got 83% but not enough people got over 85% then you could go up to an A.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 549 ✭✭✭Irishstabber

Thats a load of bull I say....idiots in the SEC

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭PurpleFistMixer

Oh my god I hate that. o.o

*prays that everyone is stupid. I'm sorry, but I want As*

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,958 ✭✭✭Fobia

I know it sounds crazy and scary, but we needn't really be worried. I mean, half of the JC students wouldn't be very smart at all at all..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 122 ✭✭Fenny

It sucks, all right. So I suppose the only way to ensure we don't get marked down is to ace everything. Wonderful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 549 ✭✭✭Irishstabber

    yea lol...good luck all

We can only hope. :p I mean, I'm happy with my B's and C's, but there are a few subjects that I really want an A in.
