Itss not about where you live its about either Catholics thinking they are better then everyone else 'cause they go to trinity,

What's this east/west brit thing? I hope it's not alluding to Trinner stereotypes being like east Britain, because they aren't. Trust me, I live here.

It gives me a valid opinion on what east brits are like, and trinity students aren't like east brits. Apart, obviously, from the trinity students who are *from* east Britain.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

Well the fact that we're all sitting here bemused off our asses shows that no, no it really isnt.

If this thread were a sketch would it feature in Little Ireland or Little Britian?:p

    Mike.

It would feature in Little "crash shoots himself in the face in angst over world stupidity"

Claire's friend. I've heard the stereo-type that trinity students are posh, that they're gay, cocky etc. But your one is just convoluted. In any event to be wondering "if a stereotype is true", any stereotye, is just plain silly.

    ster·e·o·type
    - A conventional, formulaic, and oversimplified conception, opinion, or image.

Trinity is a university in Ireland, it has a population about 15,000 students who are just that: students. 87% of these are Irish and applied through the CAO, like every-other Irish student. These Irish students are no different than students in DCU, UCD, DIT etc etc. With a similar spattering of protestants among the majoritive catholics. I don't know about you but any Irish protestants I've grown up with are just plain integrated (and often very nationalistic) Irish. I should know, Lucan (where I come from) has three protestant churches.

Do we think we're great? Not in any special way, we mostly just think we're students.

Do you need to grow up? I think so..

I hate these thread. No, no, no and no.

Ignorance breeds contempt and stereotypes. You are unfortunately more 20 years out of date with your information. Trinity never really was the university of the protestant ascendancy and since the Arch-Bishop of Dublin repealed his ban on catholics walking through and enrolling in Trinity, the balance has shifted to a similar distribution as any other university in ireland.

I'd suspected the same crash but I think this person has been given misguided/naive perception and is (not very well) trying to find out if it is true. One of those people you mentioned above wouldn't have had the brains to post inquiries into 1st year accomodation and follow it up while attempting muppetry..

Indeed. Claire's friend is also now banned.

It was when I arrived in Trinity as a fresh-faced seventeen year old that I met my first hard-core right wing conservatives. I think my scars are only just healing.

There are many lovely people in Trinity. Some of them however want to believe the sterotype and so they recreate it themselves. It's a strange world.

i never said that, they make up a sizeable portion of the student population and i don't know many of them so i can't make any statements about them in general.

There are snobby rugby-playing (etc) Arts people. But, sigh, I increasingly I find that the snobbery is really by Science-end students towards Arts students.

Yeah, there's loads of arts people that I think are the bees knees. Anyway it's not that we're snobby it's just that we're better.

    Not to mention the Greeks
    Darth Bobo: Feckin' Greeks.

COLM: It isn't the Greeks, it's the Chinese he's after.

TED: (panicing) I'm not after the Chinese.

Darth Bobo: I don't care who he gets so long as I can have a go at the Greeks. They invented gayness!

TED: Look, we are not having a go at anybody. I am not a racist, alright. God!

    Darth Bobo: Feckin' Greeks!

and... I'm not sure dragging my ass out of bed at this horrible hour is being an early bird freak...maybe if i'd some sleep and didn't nearly have to punch myself in the face to wake up...

haven't had a fig roll in ages. not a good breakfast. have a bowl of lucky charms. sugar in cereal form makes much better logical sense.
