or as a step up, the lakes course in citywest, par 3's and a few par 4s but a short but tougher test than most par 3 only course, could definitely get around without needing to
    use any woods..

I played Marlay Park par3 a few weeks ago and it was a heap of s***. The greens were in awful condition with lumps of grass growing, the fairways or what are meant to be fairways haven't been cut in ages with tyre tracks everywhere

And the worst is that the guys behind the shop have the cheek to charge you 7.50 to play for 9 holes of crap

    I remember that course.

Use to find hundreds of golf balls up there in the fields beside it.

Is that course gone. Years since i have been up there.

I think it is one up here Johnny Foxes

Have seen Burrow Par 3 and Jamestown Par3 courses on the net and just wondering if anyone has played either of them and which one would they recommend?

    Liffey Valley par 3

Just off the roundabout the one that leads off to lexlip and celbridge.

First 9 are short enough but the rest stretch out. Good course for practice i suppose.

Yeah that's my favourite one. I love the little ones as they can be simple but also awkward, especially that downhill one. Got a 69 on it just yesterday which I was pretty pleased about. I get a discount of a whole €1 coz I'm a member of a society. :)

    All you'd need is a 4 or 5 iron, a 9 iron and a putter of course.

Nice price too. Just don't buy any golf balls! Bloody rip off!

Think i got 75 last time. My putting is terrible it always lets my good iron shots down.

Just wonderin how do you get to that Liffey Valley course from Celbridge and how much is it for a round?

Anybody update me on good par 3 courses that are still around? Wouldnt mind heading out today, just dont want to go to a glorified pitch n put course?

Glenmill in Newtown Mountkennedy is the best around. Kept very well all year round.

Only a few minutes from Greystones.

agree also, not a fan of par 3 courses so ended up being dragged out by my son, enjoyed it so muchthough, shot 3 under, birdied the last 4, i needed needed a hybrid for about 3 holes so it's a good test
if you're playing there try to avoid weekends as it is very slow indeed

Out in Howth, there's the 12 hole par 3 in Deerpark.

Glenmills in Wicklow is a fantastic track but it might be a bit far down for you.
Probably one of the best par 3's in the country.

Excellent shooting. I had a 54 (level Par) there last year but within the same week I was in the late 70's twice, so it's a place that will put manners on you fairly lively if you're not playing well. I've a GUI hanidcap of 12 - I could shoot 64 out there before I had a GUI so it's a great all round test of golf in my opinion.

What's your H'Cap HeavyBalls? You must be single figures are you?

Some of the features would be
    • Short (well it IS a Par 3)
    • Long (Some hole will need a 180-200 yard carry)
    • Slow (Greens and pace of play are slow)
    • Dangerous (You could get clobbered out there due to it being a Par 3 with some lads who don't play golf hitting drivers on 190yd holes and the fact that it's fairly compressed)
    • Crap Facilities (it's a porta-cabin with a till)
    • Rewarding and punishing (Play well, you'll shoot sub 60. Play ok you'll shoot 60's. Play poorly - yuo can easy shoot the 80's)
    • Golf Etiquette? (None to be had. Trackies, hoodies, 7 balls (as opposed to a fourball)

I think that place is closed. If it's open again, I love to play there. It's a tidy little track. The longesst is about 210yds and shortest is 80yds. Water on 12 of the holes if I remember correctly. They also had a driving range. I hope there are open again....

Deer Park 12 holes Par 3, nice view. Some long holes. Worth a visit, never anyone there.

There is also this place just outside Swords. It's called Balheary. Plenty of mid irons. But I did find the course itself very very tight. There were balls flying in from all angles last time I played there.
