I've recently joined a local gym in an attempt to tighten up the "loose ends", get a bit fitter & just become more healthy overall. I'm not a very active person & would usually find gyms to be daunting places, full of people who look like they live in the place 24/7.

Anyway, I'm looking for advice as to a good beginners routine. How long should I spend, how many times a week, what kind of exercises? I'm new to everything & the attendents in the gym seem pretty busy with other customers.

    Darcy,

You have paided the money that probably includes those fitness team members to do you out a routine. You are better of asking them to set a routine for you.Take it easy and if you start to feel pain while doing an exercise STOP!

If you haven't done much exercise in a while, take it easy. About 3 times a week with a break between each session (say Monday, Wednesday and Friday), until you feel like you could do more. Do too much too soon and you'll just start getting colds and lose the desire to work out.
