only time will heal a broken bone.
Even when the strapping/sling is off, it'll still be seriously sensitive. Which finger did you break? Make sure when you go back playing that you strap it up properly.

I broke the exact same finger when I was 8. hurt like a mutha. I'm a therapist for naas rugby team, seen plenty of broken fingers pass through! LIke you said you would, - make sure it's strapped well when you get the all clear.

I broke my little finger over 4 weeks ago. I was abroad when it happened. On the advise of the doctor aboard he told me to have it X-rayed 4 weeks after fracture.

So I went and had an X-ray done on Monday (4 week mark) and unbelievably there was no doctor there to examine it. They said they will send a report back to my GP which will take 1 to 2 weeks and the he will refer me to a fracture clinic? WTF?

I'm thinking of taking my cast off next week (5 weeks after injury) and then look up some physiotherapy exercises for my injury on you tube.

Has anyone had the same injury can give me advise.? It could be 3 or 4 weeks before get to a fracture clinic. I fear being in a cast for too long could cause problems.

My fracture was not a complete break more of a crack on baby metacarpal.

Would it be ok to take off the cast after 5 weeks?

I broke my little finger playing rugby a few years back. I tried to train away for another week or so but it just wasn't healing. I didn't realise it was broken til I got it scanned. I was in a cast for close to 6 weeks and couldn't do weights or anything that involved the finger basically. Awful for rugby as you lose a lot of muscle in the upper body.

It will heal, but that baby finger is now a lot shorter than the other one! Fractured fingers are actually worse so count yourself lucky.
