Cracking Joints

    Hi,
I have, and have had for a few years, cracking joints. I usually have to crack my elbows a few times a night and the odd time during the day too, I have to crack my knees sometimes too. I've started taking Seven Seas Cod Liver Oil (one a day). Is there any other remedies that have been proven to be good for such a problem? Could it develop into a more serious problem? I don't do much excercise with my elbos (tennis or anything).

    Any suggestions appreciated,
    thanks:)

Glucosamine is a good remedy against joint stiffness.

I don't think cracking joints is a problem in itself though? - unless it is accompanied by pain or stiffness. My knees crack a lot. It's pretty common. I think it can be caued by excessive synovial fluid.

My joints always crack. It's just nitrogen bubbles escaping from the joint, and it doesn't give you arthritis

my neck and back used to crack loads, and going to a chiropracter really helped. have stopped going. the stiffness and cracking is starting to return

but i also blame the stress of exams, etc i'm going thru right now.

as for it not giving you artritis, i'm really not sure. th enitrogen bubbles thing is something that definitely happens in chiropractc stuff, but i'm not sure if intentionally craching your fingers, etc is a bad thing or not.

my knees regularly crack, but then i've got really bad knees.

You're joints don't "crack" per se - they pop as when you move the facets in a certain way, you momentarily cause a vaccum to form in the synovial fluid which collapses and produces the noise.

unless your joint is painful, stiff or restricted its ok, otherwise see a physio/gp.

Glucosamine has an evidence base for osteoarthritis but that is not really the problem if your joints only pop.
