    RULES

    1) Each match is to be played on one of the three main sites that were suggested most often: Paddy Power Poker, Victor Chandler, PokerStars. If 2 contestants want to play on a different site that they agree on thats ok too.

    2) Matches can also be played live, in the Fitzwilliam/Merrion/someones house. As long as the two players are agreed on how it works and the live game's structure matches the online games as close as possible. Make sure all games are cleared and ok with the card clubs.

    3) The first round will have 1 week to run so you can arrange your busy schedules so that all games are played when it suits. Use boards.ie pms to make arrangements and make sure you make a concerted effort to get the games played on time.

    4) If one person doesn't make the effort to get the match played then his opponent gets a bye to the next round. Judges decision final etc etc.

    5) When playing your headsup match online: to stop non-boards.ie people sitting in and playing the match,
    (a) Join but not sit in on an empty table.
    (b) Let your boards.ie opponent know that you're ready to join the table and play through the chat box.

    6) Each match should be played so that it is suitable for each players bankroll. IIRC VC/PPP have very small buy-in 1v1 games, less than $1 I think. Each match is played as a best-of-3 contest.
The stakes of each match are agreed by the two players involved. This competition is more about bragging rights and the title than money.

I think that's most of the rules covered. Original thread is here have a look at it for discussion and the prize which was donated by Special Days.

    Round 1

Should there not only be 13 matches in this round to leave things at 32 people?

*You can create private tables on Ladbrokes now too for those with accounts.
-lol, just seen your 2nd post

Here's a thought for the people at PP.
Get your lads to set up a book with odds on the winner.
Most of the form is there already. ;)
I'm sure there's no ringers in there
43 runners so must be 50/1 the field, just to make a nice round number!

Good point as there will then be 23 players in the next round?
Would be easier to do 64 places with 32 to qualify for next round, more byes but at least you have an exact number from the next round onwards i.e.
    32, 16, 8, 4, 2 and ME :D

Trust me to draw the TLB leader. Well at least we can play on Stars and I need to make up for the HU Omaha ass whipping. I've got my money split between shlteedog and VC at the moment but will transfer this evening. Is stars ok with you Imposter?

I'm not playing since I'm off to the wilds of Donegal for job reasons, can't be too sure or my internet or poker activity unfortunately :(

Luke can you amend the listings? I'm sure that my omission had nothing to do with other so-called "front runners" paying you to ensure that I was omitted accidently...

dont see my name on the list even tough i put it into the original tread!!!! too late now??????

I know the draw is done and all that but would it not make sense to try this.
    46 runners (so far).
18 get a bye into the 2nd round and 28 players play in the first round (14X2) to get another 14 into the 2nd round. That gives you 32 for the next round and perfect numbers from that point onwards?

If any more come onboard, then just reduce the number of byes to make another 1st round match. I'd assume you'd have to have some cut off for entries.

Ok, I've fixed the lineup so now we have 24 first round matches, 12 second round matches, 6 third round matches, 3 third round matches, and then 3 finalists at the end of it all.
Then the 3 finalist play head to head to determines the champion.
    A vs B, B vs C, A vs C etc. until we have a winner.

It's about the simplest way I can see to do things without rearranging the whole first round again.
Unfortunately it means there can be no more late entries, but the thread has been up for weeks anyway.
    Thoughts?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,047 ✭✭✭Culchie

Maybe if you had a 'best loser' to make up a 4th semi finalist , rather than 3 finalists ?? ... whittled down to a grand final then.

Perhaps the person who got knocked out in the 3rd round match, with the best games won/lost record?

    Only a suggestion ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,632 ✭✭✭✭okidoki987

Not that it's going to make any difference but for the next round is it going to be an open draw or will winner of 1 play 2, winner of 3 play 4 and so on?
Ok, I've fixed the lineup so now we have 24 first round matches, 12 second round matches, 6 third round matches, 3 third round matches, and then 3 finalists at the end of it all.

Not being smart but would that not be 3 fourth round matches.
so Culchies idea would be best 4th round loser?

Hey.. maybe in future for these kinda things, it would be best to use a public vote post for 'registering'

That way everyone can clearly see who is in and when the reg has closed.

Should be easier for the organiser too..

Malin is soon to get wireless broadband - Buncrana has it and Carn has - If you're working in Malin, Carn is sufficiently close to to get to work anyway so... I do a radio show in Carn every Saturday and leave a couple people home to Malin afterwards - its very close - like car close at any rate.... don't come near Donegal without a car!
