Saw a lovely yellow Lotus Elan there a few weeks back near stillorgan. Reg plate looked to be ZI. Just 'ZI' nothing else! Thought it was a bit weird

    It's Z 1 (a regular Dublin reg)

1 Z also exists on a car today, IIRC - these were originally issued on the early 20th century, but re-issued in the 60's/70's.

1Z is on an Alfa that used to live just off the Templogue Road by Bushy Park back when I were a lad!

If here was the UK that Z 1 plate would be worth €000.000's :mad::mad:

Maybe in the Celtic Tiger years but today it would be worth what someone would be prepared to pay for it.

Either way there was plenty of opportunities to do this up until the late 70's or early 80's when it was possible to transfer an Irish reg over to a UK car. Surprisingly few numbers made their way across the water, even considering that the "cherished number" scene only took off there big time in the 1980's.

A few years back on one of the Gordon Bennett runs I saw T with Z reg but cannot remember the digit after. I will look through my photos when I get a chance if it is it I will post it.

ps did you ever get to see the video Mondello?

Beetle taken about 10 days ago on the rock rd, and the Merc taken going the opposite direction today, turning into Blackrock. I think it may be a daily driver? Tidy car

few hours ago I'm walking with the camera in my pocket on Grand Parade in Cork and this Camaro passed me... I kinda knew he will get stuck on traffic lights around the corner, so I got to the corner of Grand Parade and South Mall with the camera on ready to take some pictures. He was on the lights just leaving so I zoomed in and took few pictures... these two are the best I took (other are blurry - it was matter of few seconds so kinda like now or never :)).

Had a day trip to 'de real capital' New Years day and I'm pretty sure it was that Camaro that was parked at the University Hospital. I took a pic so ye can decide for yourselves! Can't be sure as the number plate isn't on my photo but how many blue camaros can there be in Cork?

That's look well, and the way the modern form reg plate is done, suits it well.

Those plates were used in 87/88 before the narrower letters and EU/IRL blue sticker plates came out - must be made by Carplates  down behind parnell Sq

There was a chap in Wexford had a Mk1 Granada with a Rover V8 and AMG 5spoke http://www.carshine.com.au/index.htm?http://www.carshine.com.au/AMG%20Wheels.htm

It looked quite tasteful - then he put in a 2.0 4 to sell it :mad:

Saw a white 1965 Volvo P1800 today, leaving from a guys driveway all the way into Rathmines. Even had the chariot like wheels on it (the ones with the 3 or 4 inch piece sticking out).

Couldn't take a pic, but props to the white DS cruising at ~120 on the N25 east this evening. Having a DS push me on is very odd. :)

Fab car, great to see it driven properly.
