    Hi all,

Is anyone else by chance a member, and if so, have you had your induction yet? I had mine yesterday and it was awful. The guy gave me a totally unrealistic plan to stick to - more discouraging than anything else. I said I'd be going for an hour, 4 times a week and he said that I should aim for 90-120 minutes at least 4 times a week, bear minimum. And as for cardio work, he suggested I do 60 minutes on the treadmill, every visit. I'm not very fit, have about 3 stone to lose and usually feel like death after 25 -30 minutes on the treadmill. Its totally stupid.

Anyone else been given stupid advice? Don't know what to do now. Maybe you had a good experience there and can suggest a good instructor I can go to instead?

    Thanks!

I'd ask to speak to the fitness manager and explain it to them - no point lecturing you about not doing enough cardio if you only *have* an hour a week to go. I would aim to do about 40mins cardio per session, not 90-120mins but that's just me. When I worked in a gym I got one of the trainers to give me a program and she said that once you go over 20 mins of aerobic exercise, that's when the real fat-burning benefits kick in. This was her opinion, not mine, before everybody starts telling me I'm wrong!!!! :D

Talk to the fitness manager or another instructor. Good luck :)

    P.S. is the gym nice?

    thanks! Will do...

The gym will be lovely, once they actually finish it. Pool isn't open yet, and builders are working all around the equipment. Actual machine's though are brilliant, and it has a system where you log in during every visit and the machine's keep track of how long you've been running, or how many reps you've done etc.

Classes don't start until end of the month, but sound really good.

The showers are just perfect though and one of the few things that are finished!

I went into see crunch fitness in temple bar yesterday. I have been a member of a few gyms and now back in dublin. I have never seen anything like it, it was a calm oasis in the middle of town. Fitness is importent to me and so is the knowledge of the instructors. While the guy was showing me around the cardio area I asked an instructor a few questions relevent to me and he sure knew what he was talking about. You will always find one plonker in a gym, Ive come across a few of them, so if you end up with one, tell the manager/change instructor. If you feel that the program is too much, dont accept it. Simple.

    joining tomorro.
