Using condoms

Okay, another thread on the PI forum sparked my interest in this.

Does every male here find condoms restricting and dulling, or less comparable to regular sex?

I've had frequent enough sex with and without, and I have to say I notice absolutely no difference whatsoever whether I'm using or not (bar the obvious annoyance of having to put it on, mood killer, but feeling wise it feels identical )

Is this unusual? I certainly didn't think so but I've noticed everyone giving out about it lately?

I don't notice much difference tbh. I'm not bothered if I use one or not.

Yeah the smell annoys me, and I find especially with the Durex Extra Safe ones, the feeling is much less intense.

The "up side" of less intense feels however is that you tend to last a fair bit longer. I'm not saying I'm usually a two minute man, but on the times I've used a condom I've found I could go until the cows come home.

I'd find the smell of them the least of my concerns tbh. The mood killer aspect is a biggie, but it's the loss of sensitivity that does it for me. Don't get me wrong using them is better than not doing anything but if not wearing one scores a 10, wearing one reduces it to a 5 at best regardless of brand/type (though some are worse).

I won't get too graphic here but for me they really interfere with the (ahem) mechanics of sex. Touch and temperature feelings are very much reduced.
The only bloke I know who sees little difference had the "snip" when he was a kid. Maybe that's it.

MobileInfantry, if you feel no difference at all you are one lucky boyo, that's for sure. I don't get it though. If you wear surgical gloves the sensitivity in your fingers drops right off. Surely the same must apply to an area that (for me at least) is more touch sensitive.

ok folks! i have a confession to make here, a few weeks back my friend and i found condoms in her brothers wallet so we put moisturiser on them.....hope he doesnt decide to go without if he cant open them!!

I hope that moisturiser didn't have an oil base. If it did and any of it got on the condom it would damage the condom.

I would probably rather not have sex, and get a good nights sleep, than use a condom.

From another girls perspective here....

Don't think they are that bad to be honest, and it doesn't really wreck the mood for me when the guy has to stop to put it on, god it doesnt take that long.

But on the other hand, it is much much better without one!

Not too sure how my bf feels about them, think he's of the same opinion as me, but the brand you buy does affect your performance.

Yeh, the pill doesn't protect you against anything but pregnancy & even then if you puke once of have the runs or are on anti-biotics or... you can get pregnant so easily.
And even if you're in a monogamous relationship but your boyfriend's relied on the pill with other girls he could be spreading on all sorts without even knowing.

The pill is grand for some stuff, but you never know when it's gone wrong until it's too late!

A combination of the pill & condoms is the only way to fully protect yourself in my book.
It's unfortunate but true, otherwise Mr & Mrs Durex wouldn't be so fu(kin rich!!!

nah, he wouldnt be a big drinker, so there wouldnt be any nites where he's too drunk to make the right decision. he's a smart boy with his head screwed on.

I'm a girl, and I really don't notice much difference between with and without a condom, but I agree that the smell is gross and it can be a bit of a nuisance (especially if, in the heat of passion, you accidentally start putting it on inside out and then you have to go look for another one - arrgh! That happened to me once)

How does that make them stupid? Yeah, ok, some people don't take it properly - but sometimes it just doesn't work you know, since no contraception is 100% efficient

i'm taking some offence to that padser,
i was on the pill, never missed one, wasnt on any antibiotics, basically took it correctly and now i have a four yr old daughter.

It's not a perfect contraceptive method - its failure has very little to do with their intelligence, or lack of it.

In fairness, SOMETHING must have gone wrong for THREE of them to end up pregnant by one guy!

Where the hell did ya get one guy from??

One of them was actually a final year Med student. So she definately knew how to use it properly. And her and her boyfriend were using condoms and she took the morning after pill when they realised the condom broke and she still got pregnant. So just goes to show no matter how safe you are you're never 100% protected!
